Position Summary: The Quality / Manufacturing Engineer supports a leading aerospace engine provider by delivering technical quality and manufacturing engineering support for supplier transfer activities, process capability assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role serves as a key resource for reviewing quality documentation, supporting manufacturing validation efforts, ensuring compliance with customer quality requirements, and assisting with Process Minimum Standards assessments. The Quality / Manufacturing Engineer will collaborate closely with Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Purchasing, and Program Management teams to identify process gaps, improve manufacturing capability, support production readiness, and drive Zero Defect and Zero Concession objectives. While the position is preferably performed on-site to facilitate collaboration and support manufacturing operations, remote work arrangements may be considered based on business needs and candidate qualifications.
What You Will Do:
- Provide support through a walk-up service model for technical manufacturing requirements and project requests.
- Support supplier transfer package activities for externally sourced aerospace components.
- Provide technical support by interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
- Review and support First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and Manufacturing Validation Activities (MVAs).
- Assist in resolving technical questions related to manufacturing processes, specifications, and quality requirements.
- Support Manufacturing Process Minimum Standards Capability Assessments to identify process gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Contribute to Zero Defect, Zero Concession, and Zero Build Line Disruption initiatives.
- Assist with development, review, and implementation of PFMEAs, Control Plans, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and PPAP documentation.
- Support manufacturing process improvements focused on quality enhancement, cost reduction, and cost avoidance.
- Assist with customer quality requirement compliance activities and provide guidance on applicable quality standards.
- Coordinate and communicate project status through weekly highlights and progress updates.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Purchasing, and Program Management teams.
- Support project management and program management deliverables as needed.
- Document findings, recommendations, and technical solutions to support manufacturing readiness and continuous improvement efforts.
What You Will Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
- 2+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality, or related disciplines.
- Experience supporting manufacturing process development, production support, supplier transfers, or industrialization activities.
- Knowledge of FAIR, MVA, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, and PPAP methodologies.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T, and technical requirements.
- Understanding of manufacturing process capability assessments and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Knowledge of quality systems, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and process control principles.
- Experience supporting aerospace, defense, aviation, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
- Familiarity with aerospace quality management systems and customer quality requirements preferred.
- Ability to review and support technical documentation, inspection reports, and manufacturing validation activities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide customer-facing project updates.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and standard engineering documentation tools.
Pay Range: $72,800 - $85,280 annually.
Compensation decisions are made based on factors including experience, skills, education, and other job-related factors, in accordance with our internal pay structure. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, paid time off, and retirement plan.
Work Requirements: This role is considered an on-site position in Indianapolis, IN
You must be able to commute to and from the facility with your own transportation arrangements to meet required working hours.
Manufacturing and office environment which may include periods of standing, walking, and interaction with production operations.
Travel Requirements: Due to the nature of the work, minimal travel is anticipated.
Citizenship Requirements: Must be authorized to work in the United States. Additional citizenship or export control requirements may apply based on program assignment.
