Web Industries is a 100% employee owned ESOP company that has provided comprehensive outsource manufacturing and precision converting of flexible materials since 1969. Our modern facility was opened in 1988 and expanded in 1997 and again in 2018. The Fort Wayne operation serves multiple markets via several of the world’s largest custom designed slitting/spooling lines which provide industry-leading large-format spooling. We also provide medium and small-format spooling and slitting, and multi-color wide-web flexographic printing.

Purpose of the Job

Under the direction and coordination of the Applications Engineer, the engineering intern will be responsible for assisting in the coordination and implementation of manufacturing improvement projects, documentation of processes and best practices, and providing engineering & quality support for development of new equipment, processes, and products. This role will be collaborating with other departments including, engineering, operations, sales, accounting, purchasing, and quality. Successful completion of the internship period could lead to future permanent employment in a process engineering role.

Functional responsibilities

  • Attention to safety awareness and promoting a safe work environment
  • Data analysis for problem solving
  • Documentation of manufacturing procedures and best practices
  • Identify and lead improvement initiatives
  • Provide daily technical support for key production equipment
  • General plant engineering support 

 

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering with a minimum of 3 years college experience-Required
  • Experience required: previous co-op/internship in a manufacturing environment 
  • Ability to prioritize and manage complexity
  • Excellent accuracy of work and attention to detail
  • Ability to influence others and get results working with a diverse team
  • Personal leadership, time management, and problem-solving competencies
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with all levels within and outside of the organization
  • U.S. citizenship required
