JOB DESCRIPTION - FULL-TIME

In support of ORU's aggressive growth goals, the Academic Coach serves as a liaison to a selected group of Advantage Program online and concurrent learners for the purpose of helping them complete their educational goals, communicating regularly, and providing assistance to each student as needed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Represent the University to Advantage Program Learners

  • Serve as each student's point of contact
  • Serve as parents' and partner schools' point of contact
  • Help students navigate the University's processes and procedures
  • Support, encourage, and connect learners to available services to resolve issues
  • Cultivate student relationships with ORU to enhance understanding of university culture and systems
  • Call students, send reminder messages, etc.

Monitor Students' Progress

  • Assist with collecting student data
  • Create regular performance reports
  • Utilize Excel, Salesforce, PowerBI, D2L, Microsoft Office, Zoom, and other data collection and communication tools
  • Assist with communicating performance reports to all applicable populations

Develop Student Success Plan

  • Develop relationships that foster developmental conversations
  • Help the student set realistic goals that will contribute to academic and personal achievement in college
  • Motivate students to achieve educational goals by providing follow-up, accountability, and encouragement
  • Help students develop and implement learning strategies and study skills specific to course materials
  • Coordinate and integrate initiatives that promote and enhance student engagement
  • Collaborate with other university departments to enhance student engagement and experience
REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Two (2) years of related work experience in higher education, customer service or related field required.
  • Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and be able to articulate information well, both verbally and in written form.
  • Must have an eye for detail due to the need for accurate record keeping/recording of information that is personal, monetary, and time-sensitive related.
  • Must be self-motivated, driven to meet goals, possess a strong work ethic, and be able to prioritize.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, leadership, and time management skills are a must.
  • Must have the ability to work both as a team member and independently; use sound judgment regarding organizational and departmental regulations, procedures, and policies; quickly establish and maintain rapport with students, faculty, administration, and parents from varying cultural backgrounds.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize multi-tasks in the midst of a fast-paced, high-demand work environment while always maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Must remain flexible with regard to external factors that may affect the work schedule.
  • Maintains compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
