What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Administrative Float, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Administrative Float, you need strong organizational skills, adaptability, and a solid understanding of office procedures, often supported by a high school diploma or relevant administrative experience. Familiarity with office software like Microsoft Office Suite, scheduling systems, and sometimes basic knowledge of industry-specific platforms is typically required. Excellent communication, flexibility, and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently are standout soft skills for this role. As an Administrative Float, you'll regularly rotate among departments to provide support where it's most needed. This means quickly learning each team's workflow, culture, and specific administrative processes. Flexibility and strong communication skills are essential, as you'll need to shift priorities, follow various managers' instructions, and often jump into unfamiliar tasks with minimal notice. Many floats find that this variety keeps the work dynamic and provides opportunities to build broad organizational knowledge, which can lead to advancement into specialized administrative or supervisory roles.

Individually and together, our employees are dedicated to satisfying the mission of our organization which is an unwavering commitment to excellence as we care for the sick and injured; educate physicians, nurses and other health care providers; and improve access to care in the communities we serve, regardless of a patient's ability to pay for health care.
The Coordinator, Float Team - SLPG works in collaboration with the Manager, SLPG Float Team on overseeing the daily operations of the Float Team by efficiently deploying resources to practices in need of coverage due to absences. • Supports Manager, SLPG Float Team to provide a hybrid oversight of processes, workflow execution, employee collaboration, and overall positive patient experience.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and actively supports continuous improvement activities spanning quality, patient satisfaction, and the Float Team's growth.
  • In partnership with the Manager, SLPG Float Team, ensures operational readiness for clinical and clerical operations (e.g., updating employee schedules, accessing and interpreting metrics, rounding with team members, updating time management systems).
  • Serves as a point of escalation and facilitate resolution for operational, technological, patient, and appropriate personnel issues.
  • Supports orientation and onboarding of new hires, provides ongoing training and timely performance feedback to employees, as appropriate.
  • Travel throughout regions to conduct routine observations and coaching sessions with Float Team members to ensure quality care and service is being performed.
  • Supports education of staff regarding operational, technology, procedural and policy changes.
  • Provides coverage as a Medical Assistant at practices when there are limited Float Team resources available to cover both unplanned and planned absences. This entails preparing patients for examination and escorting them into the exam room and providing other patient care services as needed/directed: keeps exam rooms clean; maintains clinical supplies in exam rooms; cleans and autoclaves contaminated instruments; gives injections or immunizations within State guidelines.

EDUCATION:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
One year of clinical experience or graduate of Medical Assistant program required. Two years of experience in similar healthcare setting is preferred. Customer service experience is strongly preferred. BLS/CPR: Current or within 60 days of hire; through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
