Hours: 40 hours per week
Position Summary
We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Administration Generalist 1 to support the employee onboarding and personnel administration functions. This role is responsible for coordinating new hire activities, processing personnel transactions, maintaining confidential employee records, and providing administrative support throughout the onboarding lifecycle. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills while handling sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the end-to-end onboarding process for new employees.
  • Process and approve new hires and internal employee transfers.
  • Review and process background investigation reports.
  • Coordinate new hire appointments and employment start dates.
  • Communicate with internal departments and external partners regarding onboarding requirements.
  • Maintain accurate manual and electronic personnel records.
  • Collect, compile, and safeguard confidential employee information.
  • Prepare personnel reports and administrative documentation.
  • Provide information regarding personnel policies, procedures, and employment processes.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
  • Perform general administrative and clerical duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of additional education and/or relevant professional experience.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting Human Resources or employee onboarding functions.
  • Knowledge of personnel administration processes.
  • Experience working with HR information systems or applicant tracking systems.
  • Ability to work effectively with employees at all organizational levels.

Work Schedule
  • Monday through Friday
  • First Shift: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
  • 40 hours per week

Newport News, Virginia
Security Clearance
  • No security clearance required.

Compensation
Pay Rate: $26.00 - $33.00 per hour
Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
Contract Duration
  • 12-month contract assignment
