Activities Associate

Job Title: Activities Assistant

Location: Lexington, KY

Department: Activities 

Reports to: Activities Director 

Position Type: Full Time

Job Summary: 

We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activities Associate to join our team at Lexington Premier Nursing and Rehab. The Activities Associate will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by planning, implementing, and facilitating engaging recreational and therapeutic activities. This position requires a passion for working with seniors and a commitment to promoting their physical, emotional, and social well being. 

Work Environment: 

This position operates in a clinical healthcare environment. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Activity Planning and Implementation: Develop and organize a variety of individual and group activities tailored to residents’ interests, abilities, and needs. Facilitate recreational programs, arts and crafts, games, music, and social events to promote resident engagement and interaction. 

  • Resident Interaction: Build positive relationships with residents and their families to understand their preferences and encourage participation in activities. Support residents in participating in activities and provide assistance as needed. 

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of resident participation and document outcomes of activities. Communicate with the healthcare team regarding resident interests and any observed changes in their well-being. 

  • Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including nursing staff and therapists, to coordinate care and ensure a holistic approach to resident activities. Participate in staff meetings and contribute ideas for new programs and improvements. 

  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all activities comply with facility policies and safety regulations. Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment for all residents and staff. 

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent 

  • Previous experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing setting preferred. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine enthusiasm for working with seniors.

  • Ability to plan, organize, and lead diverse activities and programs. 

  • Basic knowledge of therapeutic recreation practices is desirable. 

  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
