Job description


Applications are being accepted for the position of Accounting Technicianย with the East Valley Institute of Technology. This position will work at our Main St Campus (1601 W. Main St Mesa AZ 85201). The hours are M-F 7:30-4:00.ย 
Job Summary:ย The Accounting Technician performs general accounting and financial support duties, including processing transactions, maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts, preparing journal entries and assisting with other general accounting and auditing activities.ย The position supports EVIT's financial reporting, helps ensures compliance with Arizona Department of Education (ADE), Maricopa County, and other applicable financial regulations. This position will provide excellent customer service while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.




Job Type: Full Time, 12 Month Non-Exempt


Salary:ย $25.70 31.87 / Hour.ย  Placement in the range will be based on a combination of education, industry related experience and certification.ย 
Education and Experience:


  • High school diploma or GED with some college coursework in business, accounting or finance.
  • Three to five years of increasing responsible accounting experience related to fund accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, account payables and account receivables.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a closely related field.
  • Prior experience working for a government agency or public school district in the business, finance or accounting department in an accounting related position.ย 

Licensing / Certification and Other Requirements:

  • Validย Arizonaย Department ofย Publicย Safetyย Identityย Verifiedย Printsย (IVP)ย fingerprint clearanceย card.
  • Proofย of immunizationย againstย orย immunityย toย measlesย andย rubellaย if bornย afterย Januaryย 1,ย 1957.
