BASIC FUNCTION
Under the direction of the Accounting Manager and Controller, records business accounts and transactions, performs a variety of complex technical accounting and fiscally related functions and reviews, monitors, and audits fund record management activities; compiles financial and other fiscal information and completes various State and District reports; performs related duties as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is the advanced journey level class of the Accounting series. The Senior Accounting Technician is distinguished from the Accounting Technician classification in that the former is assigned complex technical accounting duties for a functional area of responsibility such as ASB, bank deposits, reimbursements, categorical claims, journal entries, revolving checks etc. and provide technical and functional responsibility for other accounting technical personnel. The Senior Accounting Technician is further distinguished from the ASB Account Technician in that the latter performs a variety of basic accounting functions in the management of ASB accounts.
Incumbents at this level are required to be fully trained in all procedures and able to perform the full scope of duties of the Accounting Technician and have a more in-depth knowledge specific to assigned area.
