Washington, DC Area | Hybrid (1-2 Days Onsite)
Company Overview
Our client is a rapidly growing, privately held real estate investment and development platform focused on large-scale infrastructure and commercial development projects throughout the DMV region.
The organization operates a highly entrepreneurial environment with institutional capital backing and continues to experience significant growth across its investment and development platform. This position offers strong visibility to executive leadership and the opportunity to help build scalable accounting operations within a sophisticated multi-entity environment.

This is a hands-on management role ideal for an operationally minded accounting professional who can balance day-to-day execution with process improvement, team leadership, and systems optimization. The organization is currently transitioning to Yardi as its primary ERP platform, and this individual will serve as a key stakeholder in the long-term management and optimization of AP workflows within the system.
The role will report directly to senior accounting leadership with regular exposure to executive management and broader finance leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities

  • Manage vendor onboarding, payment approvals, wire setups, and disbursement workflows
  • Oversee 1099 processing and related compliance requirements
  • Coordinate invoice processing related to development projects, construction activity, property operations, and corporate expenses
  • Assist with credit card administration and related reconciliations
  • Partner closely with project accounting, fund accounting, asset management, and finance leadership teams
  • Help establish scalable processes and reporting capabilities to support future organizational growth
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
  • Participate in month-end close support and AP-related reporting activities

Preferred Qualifications
  • 8-15 years of accounting or accounts payable experience with prior supervisory or management responsibility
  • Experience managing AP operations within a multi-entity environment
  • Real estate, construction, development, infrastructure, hospitality, or related industry experience preferred
  • Prior exposure to Yardi or other large ERP systems strongly preferred
  • Experience building or improving AP processes, workflows, and internal controls
  • Strong understanding of vendor management, payment processing, and AP operational best practices
  • Exposure to construction draws and lien waiver processes is a plus
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment
  • Hands-on leadership style with the ability to both execute and lead
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

Why This Opportunity Stands Out
  • Opportunity to help build and modernize a scalable AP function within a rapidly growing investment and development platform
  • Direct exposure to executive leadership and strategic initiatives
  • High-growth environment with long-term advancement potential
  • Exposure to large-scale development and institutional real estate operations
  • Collaborative, entrepreneurial culture with strong visibility across the organization
