POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Project Accounting Manager is responsible for the oversight of project-level accounting

across the company's active construction and development portfolio. This role supervises and

supports a team of Project Accountants, ensures accurate and timely financial reporting at the

project level, and serves as the primary point of accountability for the financial integrity of

projects from construction through closeout. The Project Accounting Manager works closely with

the Director of Accounting, project teams, lenders, investors, and municipalities to ensure

funding, compliance, and reporting obligations are met across all projects.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Include but are not necessarily limited to the following:

Provide leadership, training, and day-to-day supervision to the Project Accountant team,

including workload distribution and performance management

Review and approve monthly AIA/G702 & G703 draw packages prepared by Project

Accountants across all assigned projects

Prepare self-assigned projects monthly draw packages and financials reports

Oversee review and processing of vendor invoices and subcontractor AIA billings for

accuracy and compliance

Oversee preparation and final review of funding request packages submitted to

municipalities, banks, and partners

Monitor monthly bank statement reconciliations and general ledger entries across the

project portfolio for accuracy and completeness

Establish and enforce deadlines to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting across all

projects

Perform high-level review of project financials, including budget-to-actual analysis, job cost

tracking, and variance reporting

Identify and escalate financial risks, funding gaps, or compliance issues across the project

portfolio to the Director of Accounting

Oversee tax return and cost certification preparation in coordination with external auditors

and accountants

Oversee subcontractor contract compliance and lien waiver tracking across all projects

Standardize and continuously improve project accounting processes, controls, and

reporting templates across the team

Serve as a key liaison between project accounting, senior leadership, lenders, investors, and

third-party partners

Support the onboarding of new projects, including chart of accounts setup, budget loading,

and funding structure review

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty

Undergraduate degree required in accounting (CPA a plus)

A minimum of 6-8 years of experience in construction accounting, including experience

preparing, reviewing and overseeing construction jobs

LIHTC experience a plus

Prior experience supervising, mentoring, or managing an accounting team preferred

Advanced experience in Accounts Payable, Job Cost, and GL reconciliation, with the ability

to review and approve the work of others

Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize across a portfolio of multiple, simultaneous

projects

Strong work ethic with demonstrated desire to grow with a growing company

Ambitious, self-directed individual suited to a fun, flexible working environment

Excellent leadership, delegation, and team-building skills

Must be a proficient, confident communicator and listener, comfortable presenting

financial information to leadership, lenders, and partners

Ability to manage frequent interruptions while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines

across the team

Must have a valid U.S. driver's license


TECHNICAL/COMPUTER SKILLS:

Excellent quantitative analysis and financial modeling skills (using Excel) are required

Strong understanding of GAAP accounting

Multi-Family or Low-Income Housing Tax Credit knowledge required

Jonas Premier experience preferred

Working knowledge of MS Office software programs necessary

Ability and willingness to effectively use and champion other job-related technology tools

across the team
