Accessibility Director information
What is the difference between Accessibility Director vs Accessibility Specialist?
| Aspect | Accessibility Director | Accessibility Specialist |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | Typically requires a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accessibility, UX, or related fields; certifications like IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) are common | Often requires similar certifications and educational background, but may have less emphasis on leadership credentials |
| Work Environment | Leads accessibility initiatives across organizations, manages teams, and collaborates with executive leadership | Focuses on implementing accessibility solutions, testing, and ensuring compliance within projects or departments |
| Employer & Industry Usage | Used in large corporations, government agencies, and organizations with dedicated accessibility programs | Found in various industries, often as part of UX, IT, or compliance teams |
The Accessibility Director oversees organizational accessibility strategies and manages teams, while the Accessibility Specialist focuses on executing accessibility tasks and ensuring compliance within specific projects. Both roles require relevant certifications, but the director's role is more strategic and leadership-oriented.
