Position Summary

Rappahannock Goodwill Industries (RGI) is seeking a motivated and people-centered CareerPath Accelerator Intern to support the delivery and growth of Goodwillโ€™s AI-powered career readiness program. This position is 22 hours per week for 8 weeks. This hands-on internship offers meaningful field experience in customer engagement, digital and AI literacy education, community outreach, and workforce servicesโ€”contributing directly to RGIโ€™s mission of empowering individuals to achieve economic independence. The intern will serve as a frontline advocate for the CareerPath Accelerator, helping job-seekers from all backgrounds understand and navigate AI-powered tools, access career pathways, and connect with employment opportunities. This position is ideal for individuals with an interest in human services, workforce development, or business who are passionate about making a difference in their community.

Key Responsibilities

Digital & AI Literacy

  • Provide individualized and group learning opportunities for digital literacy.
  • Assist customers in accessing Goodwillโ€™s suite of AI-learning platforms.
  • Develop teaching materials/methods to reduce anxiety regarding technological changes in the workplace.

Service Delivery

  • Facilitate enrollment of job-seekers in the AI-powered CareerPath Accelerator program.
  • Promote the CareerPath Accelerator Program through community outreach events.
  • Assist job-seekers in navigating workforce programs, funding, and systems.
  • Assist partner agency staff in developing transparent referral processes.
  • Learn person-centered approaches to goal-setting and social assistance.

Career Development

  • Assist customers with goal-setting regarding training, upskilling, and employment.
  • Connect job-seekers with job boards and employment opportunities.
  • Assist staff in developing new skills-based career assessments.

Customer Service

  • Develop tools to measure customer satisfaction around the CareerPath Accelerator program.
  • Create training and outreach materials for partner staff to facilitate better customer experience.
  • Collect customer success stories regarding the CareerPath Accelerator program.

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and educate diverse populations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to engage and present information to diverse audiences, including individuals with varying levels of technology experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to pass background and compliance checks.

Preferred

  • Current enrollment in or completion of a post-secondary program (certificate, Associateโ€™s, or Bachelorโ€™s degree) in Human Services, Social Work, Workforce Development, Business, or a related field. All education levels post-high school are welcome to apply.
  • Experience or coursework in social services, case management, community outreach, or adult education.
  • Comfort with or curiosity about digital tools and AI platforms, and an ability to explain technology concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with workforce systems, social service programs, or community-based organizations.

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Mobility: Able to remain stationary for long periods; capable of bending, reaching, and operating office tools.
  • Lifting: Must occasionally lift items up to 25 pounds.
  • Work Environment: Primarily office-based with possible visits to RGI service sites; hybrid flexibility may be available.
  • Schedule: May require occasional evening or weekend work depending on outreach events or program activities.
