The Role at a glance:

We are looking to add an experienced, enthusiastic catering sales manager to our Abigail Kirsch team in New York, NY. As a Catering Sales Manager with Abigail Kirsch, you will be responsible for the successful development and growth of the catering department.  Overall tasks and responsibilities will include supervision of the event planning process from inquiry through event execution. The Catering Sales Manager will be responsible for actively selling the venue and maintaining an excellent working relationship with any internal clients. The Catering Sales Manager will be responsible for the development and growth of the event execution standards at their venue location. This role also offers uncapped commission potential.

What you'll be doing:

Direct Sales at unit level

  • Work independently towards client outreach to develop new client relationships and to initiate sales opportunities.
  • Complete monthly KPIโ€™s that contribute to prospecting and outbound sales efforts.
  • Seek and attend networking groups and events.
  • Maintain positive internal and external client relationships and liaison as necessary to ensure a consistently positive interaction.
  • Field incoming leads, give preliminary price quotes, negotiate, and close those sales.
  • Finalize all staffing needs and party details for individually sold events.
  • Collect all monies and deposits due prior to upcoming events.
  • Event Coordination support to include timing of events, assisting Captain(s) with staff assignments on site and meeting with staff when necessary, acting as liaison with client, kitchen, staff, and vendors. 
  • Create catering proposals, which are comprised of four major areas: menu, beverage, staff, and equipment rental. 
  • Participate, conduct client meetings / sales calls, and follow up. 
  • Conduct tastings as needed.
  • Track lost business and lead inquiries to better understand trends in the business.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with onsite team in partnership with individual events.


Financial Performance

  • Achieve set yearly sales goal set forth by your unit level leader.
  • Monitor event profitability to ensure that events are sold and executed according to company standards and budget.
  • Ensure that all event deposits, payments, and invoicing reflect the company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor staffing levels on each event to ensure proper service standards are achieved and profitability maintained according to budget.
  • Run assigned reports to further analyze the business and upcoming event calendars.


Marketing (This will be a collaborative approach with the Marketing to ensure the successful development of the brand)

  • Regularly network to increase notoriety and buzz surrounding events at venue.
  • Work with sales and marketing team in creating blitz or sales initiatives, in conjunction with unit leader.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends as they evolve, and share these with the team.
What we're looking for:

Must-haves: 

  • 2+ years of experience overseeing high-volume food and beverage/catering operations either within a hotel, cultural institution, or premier catering company.
  • Must have experience in entrepreneurial and corporate business environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
  • The ability to support multiple levels of catering within a very dynamic environment.
  • Hardworking nature, hands-on approach, and a passion for the business.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, management, vendors, and clients.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule to accommodate business levels.

The Catering Sales Manager must possess a working knowledge of the systems used within the company.  The Catering Sales Manager must be proficient in the following:

  • Opening & closing procedures
  • Food and beverage knowledge

Compensation Range
