Schedule: Monday - Friday (Five 8-hour shifts, approx. 40-42 hours per week) Position Type: Full-Time Call/Weekend Requirements: Absolutely NO ON-CALL and NO WEEKENDS
Position Overview
Michigan Surgical is seeking a dedicated, highly skilled Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse to join our clinical team full-time. In this role, you will provide exceptional patient care before, during, and after surgery, while effectively managing both scrubbing and circulating duties.
This position offers an incredible quality of life with a steady Monday-through-Friday schedule, zero weekend shifts, and no on-call rotations. To best support our surgical teams, travel is required between our two premier ambulatory surgery centers in Utica and Troy.
Job Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as an OR Nurse is required. Experience functioning in both scrub and circulating nurse roles is essential.
  • Licensure: Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan.
  • Certifications: Active BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).
  • Travel: Must have reliable transportation and willingness to travel/float between our Utica and Troy locations.
  • Skills: Strong clinical knowledge, ability to develop patient care plans, proficiency with EMR systems, and the ability to thrive and take decisive action in a fast-paced environment.

GENERAL SUMMARY
The ASC Registered Nurse OR provides safe, quality patient care in the operating room area. The RN provides care and support to patients before, during and after surgery along with assisting the surgeon and the surgical team in their tasks.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
  • Prepares operating room for procedure.
  • Evaluates medical information, and provides direct and individualized bedside nursing care to pre-and post-surgery patients.
  • Functions in a scrub and circulating nurse role.
  • Assists in positioning and responding to comfort / safety of the patient.
  • Serves as the communication liaison to family and members of the operating team.
  • Provides accurate care and handling of specimens.
  • Prepares, administers and records prescribed medications.
  • Communicates preoperative instructions to the patient.
  • Performs other position related duties as assigned.
  • Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS
  • RN License and certification as required by state.
  • BLS certification required, ACLS required.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES
  • Ability to build relationships with patients and display empathy and compassion to patients.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR.
  • Requires strong clinical knowledge and ability to develop patient care plan in preparation for surgery.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Graduate of a accredited nursing program, BSN preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years' experience as OR Nurse.
