Cleveland Clinic's Park West Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) strives to be the best place to receive ophthalmic surgical care/pain management services and the best place to work in healthcare. As an (ASC) OR Nurse, you will provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative nursing care to surgical patients. Responsibilities include preparing patients for procedures, assisting with surgical setup and ensuring compliance with safety and infection control standards. Following surgery, you will monitor vital signs, perform post-anesthesia assessments, manage pain control and evaluate patients' readiness for discharge. You will collaborate with the surgical and anesthesia teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care throughout the perioperative process.

A caregiver in this role works days from 7:30 a.m. -- 4:00 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide clinical nursing in the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC).

  • Assess patient care needs, plan the delivery of care and process patients through the ASC.

  • Direct other caregivers in providing patient care.

  • Assume charge responsibilities, resolve problems and report variances.

  • Develop educational materials and provide health education to patients and families.

  • Maintain nursing competencies.

  • Participate in preparing staff development programs.

  • Identify self-learning needs, establish goals and evaluate attainment of goals.

  • Demonstrate respect for the cultural and social differences that exist among people.

  • Maintain confidentiality of information regarding patients, families and caregivers.

  • Demonstrate a positive, concerned and sensitive response in the workplace and contribute to a positive workplace atmosphere.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

  • One year of clinical experience as an RN in a perioperative or critical care setting OR three years as a Surgical Technician

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or willing to obtain within six months of hire

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

  • Current demonstrated clinical proficiency

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor's of science in nursing (BSN)

  • Knowledge of pre/post op in any setting (in house or ambulatory)

Physical Requirements:

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $33.50

Maximum hourly: $53.40
