POSITION SUMMARY
This position assists the Clinical Manager RN in the daily clinical operations of the pre-operative and post-operative areas in the ASC in accordance with established Federal, State, and accreditation standards and ASC policies and procedures. Participates in direct patient care including pre-procedure and post-procedure care including admission to and discharge from the ASC setting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Cares for the patient undergoing surgical/procedural intervention to assure appropriate pre-procedural and post-procedural nursing management across the age span.
  2. Performs proper patient identification in accordance with policies/protocols and verifies correct procedure, completeness of patient charts, and associated documents. Communicates accordingly with ASC personnel to provide continuity of care.
  3. Provides appropriate assessment and care for the patient experiencing pain. Provides safe medication administration in accordance with ASC policies and procedures, and documents in the medical record accordingly.
  4. Provides for effective airway management postoperatively.
  5. Assess the patient for level of recovery and manage any post-operative/post-procedural complications or emergencies; notifies appropriate resources/physicians in a timely manner.
  6. Assists physicians with bedside procedures (including but not limited to TEE/Cardioversion).
  7. Utilizes aseptic technique and infection control principles to establish and maintain intravenous access and any other associated procedures.
  8. Provides patient/family education and teaching for the management of the patient upon returning to the home environment.
  9. Actively participates in, develops, and implements activities and measures to promote quality care. .
  10. Demonstrates ability to provide clinical care instructions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience/Licenses Certifications
Current valid Arizona RN license.
Two years RN experience with an emphasis in Pre-op/PACU required
Cardiology experience required.
Current ACLS certification
Current BLS certification
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Patient education and triage experience preferred.
Strong IV skills preferred.
Sheath Management/Removal experience preferred.
Cardiology experience preferred.
