Job description

The Coral Springs Family Health and Surgery Center provides patients with convenient access to the same world-class care provided at Cleveland Clinic's regional hospitals. This state-of-the-art facility specializes in primary care, outpatient surgery, imaging and more. As a caregiver on our team, you will experience endless support and appreciation while building a rewarding career with one of the most respected healthcare organizations in the world.

The Ambulatory Surgery Center provides care to pre- and post-op patients for a large variety of ambulatory surgical cases, including but not limited to ENT, General Surgery, Gynecology, Orthopaedic Surgery, and Urology, following established standards, department guidelines and hospital policies and procedures. As an ASC RN supporting the Operating Room, you will use your strong assessment and critical-thinking skills in collaboration with physicians and anesthesia providers to screen, diagnose, and treat gastrointestinal conditions through procedures such as colonoscopies and EGDs. In this role, you play an integral part in ensuring patient advocacy, safety, and optimal outcomes across the multi-disciplinary care team.

Caregivers in this role work days between 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Establish and maintain courteous and cooperative relations with patients and other users of the ASC.

  • Oversee the clinical practice of nursing in the ASC including assessing patient care needs and planning the delivery of care utilizing the nursing process in a variety of settings.

  • Direct other caregivers in providing patient care.

  • Assume charge responsibilities and resolve problems.

  • Report variances from standard practice to the Nurse Manager.

  • Develop educational material and provide health education to patients and families.

  • Process patients through the ASC.

  • Assess the level of personnel skills and the availability of resources to meet established patient outcomes.

  • Actively participate in attaining ASC goals and mission.

  • Monitor and evaluate cost effective practices within the ASC.

  • Participate in the development and utilization of quality monitoring programs within the ASC.

  • Complete all mandatory nursing competencies and educational requirements within a defined time frame.

  • Contribute to the positive atmosphere of the workplace.

  • Demonstrate respect for the cultural and social differences that exist among people.

  • Maintain confidentiality of information regarding patients, families and caregivers.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing (ADN or BSN program)

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

  • One year of clinical experience as an RN in a perioperative or critical care setting

  • OR three years of experience as a Surgical Technician

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within six months of hire

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)

  • Current demonstrated clinical competency

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)


Physical Requirements:

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.


Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
