Job description

Director Land Development

BGE, Inc., is seeking a Civil Engineering Leader for the Land Development team in our Austin, TX Office (Directors Blvd).

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit and train teams from the Sr. PM level through engineering and Civil 3D design staff.
  • 10+ years of specific experience in Land/Residential Development and great to have additional experience in Site/Commercial Development.
  • Direct responsibility for projects and leading a team in the development of plans and specifications for multi-family, residential, master planned, mixed-use, and commercial, and other types of projects that include paving, grading, drainage, water lines, sanitary sewers and other miscellaneous items.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for high value clients.
  • Provide leadership input on proposal scopes and fees and manage contracting process.
  • Manage and resolve complicated and complex conflicts both project and staff related.
  • Manage recruiting and hiring process for staff, coordinate with Managing Director for pay adjustments and promotions.
  • Balance workload with required staffing levels and manage communication with Directors in the region to minimize staffing gaps and maintain suitable utilization.
  • Engage with public agencies and industry organizations with an emphasis on leadership position(s)
  • Maintain attention to primary business metrics including Revenue, Multiplier, A/R, Utilization and Unbilled
  • Actively participate in business development efforts and coordinate with Managing Director to fill gaps in contract execution to maintain appropriate backlog.
  • Participate in development and implementation of department business plan and Austin specific goals.
  • Participate in monthly Operations Meetings with Managing Director and/or Ops Leader
  • Coordinate with other regional departments (public and private) with facilitation by Managing Director to encourage One Team approach, work share and regional growth. 
  • Establish a culture of quality and either maintain primary responsibility for QA/QC on deliverables or develop staff to oversee programs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field
  • Registered P.E. in Texas
  • 15+ years of experience
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, Excel and Word
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
