Job description

U.S. Physiatry is seeking a board-certified Physiatrist for a full-time locum tenens Medical Director assignment at Baylor Scott & White - Lakeway, a top rehabilitation hospital in Austin, TX. This role involves providing leadership and clinical oversight for an inpatient rehabilitation unit, ensuring quality outcomes and regulatory compliance. The position offers a high-impact opportunity within a highly regarded inpatient rehab setting.

Practice Info

  • Medical Director for the inpatient rehabilitation unit
  • 20-bed rehab unit
  • Rehab-specific call coverage (pager-only; internal medicine handles medical issues)
  • Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in Pinpoint EMR

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Medical Director for the inpatient rehabilitation unit, ensuring quality outcomes and regulatory compliance
  • Conduct daily rounding on patients and collaborate with therapy, nursing, and case management teams
  • Provide leadership and clinical oversight for a 20-bed rehab unit
  • Manage rehab-specific call coverage
  • Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries in Pinpoint EMR
  • Support a culture of excellence and teamwork within the rehab program
  • Attend interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to care planning

Compensation

  • $2,000 per 8-hour day (rounding)
  • $325 per hour for overtime
  • $500 pager fee per night for on-call coverage
  • $325 per hour if called in while on call
  • Additional pay provided if called in while on pager call

Benefits

  • We will reimburse licensing fees upon completion of 20 shifts

Shift & Schedule

  • Assignment Dates: June 16 - September 26, 2025
  • Standard coverage is 8-hour daytime shifts, typically between 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Monday through Sunday availability as scheduled
  • Pager call coverage may be assigned on weeknights and weekends
  • No in-house call required

Requirements

  • MD/DO Degree Required
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in PM&R
  • Active TX license preferred - IMLC accepted
  • Inpatient rehab experience strongly preferred
  • Experience leading or rounding in an inpatient rehab setting
  • Comfortable managing a 20-bed census in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team
  • Strong understanding of CMS documentation and regulatory compliance
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records, especially Pinpoint or similar platforms
  • No visa sponsorship available
