SUMMARY
The Proofreader is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of written content across various materials, including menus, promotional materials, and branding collateral.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Attention to Detail: Thoroughly review written content to identify grammatical, spelling, typographical, and compositional errors.
  • Reading Comprehension: Demonstrate the ability to comprehend complex written materials and effectively communicate any necessary revisions.
  • People Skills: Collaborate closely with graphic designers and typesetters to ensure seamless integration of text and design elements.
  • Accuracy Under Pressure: Work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment without compromising on quality.
  • Consistency in Style: Analyze style requirements and ensure consistency in tone, formatting, and language usage across all materials.
  • Adherence to Brand Standards: Learn and follow brand standards for various clients to maintain brand integrity and consistency.
  • Attention to Detail in Branding: Recognize and correct misspelled food and beverage brands to uphold brand reputation.
  • Compliance with Regulatory Requirements: Identify and rectify missing pricing and/or calorie counts for clients that require their display.
  • Font Consistency: Pay close attention to font consistency, including size, color, and other typographic elements.
  • Food Safety Awareness: Identify items that indicate a relation to food safety warnings and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of grammar, punctuation, and writing mechanics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Familiarity with food and beverage industry terminology and standards is a plus.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • HS Diploma or GED.
  • Associateโ€™s and/or Bachelorโ€™s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in proofreading and editing.
POSITION DETAILS

  • Compensation: $20.00 - $30.00 hourly

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position operates primarily in a professional office environment and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions and/or hazardous conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time; stand and walk occasionally (including in the plant); near vision acuity for computer work; ability to communicate clearly through verbal interactions on the phone and in person; and fine motor skills to operate a keyboard/mouse and other office equipment.
