Job Title: Senior Associate, Supplier Quality Engineering 

Job Code: 36930

Job Schedule: 4/10 Monday-Thursday (Employees work 10 hour days, 4 days per week)

Job Description:

Drive continuous improvement with the company's supply base by developing and strengthening processes that will reduce defects, receiving inspections, and company risk.

Essential Functions:

  • Drive for quick resolution and responses for: Verifications of Supplier Non-Conformances (N/C's) and Ensure Supplier Corrective Action Requests (8 D's) have robust containment and permanent corrective actions to prevent future N/Cs.
  • Travel to Suppliers as needed to support the above activities by: Communicating to facilitate and enhance supplier relations; Communicating company requirements and expectations; Coaching on Quality Systems Improvements that include process controls, error proofing, gauging, testing, SPC, part/lot traceability, and problem solving; Conduct Supplier On-Site evaluations and provide management summary/status reports to appropriate company personnel; Utilize company communications staff at other locations to assist with site visits and the overall company supplier improvement process; Supplier on-site reviews and witnessing of First Article and Lot Acceptance Testing. This is the section where you include if they must be able to obtain a US security clearance as a job requirement. Traveling up to 50% of the time.
  • Familiarity with blueprint reading, ISO 9000 and Military standards, supplier certification review, dimensional inspection methodology, use of gages, and proper documentation procedures. Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Use of APQP tools to prevent rejections and reduce risk.
  • Identifying and understanding issues, problems, and opportunities; comparing data from different sources to draw conclusions; using effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; taking action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience OR Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
  • 2-4 years' experience in Supplier Quality Engineering, or equivalent combination of experience and education. Knowledge of engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, mechanical
  • Technical Knowledge of IPC Standards IPC-A-600 (Acceptability of Printed Boards), IPC-6012 (Qualification and Performance Specification for Rigid Printed Boards), IPC-6013 (Qualification and Performance Specification for Flexible/Rigid-Flexible Printed Boards), J-STD-003 (Solderability Tests for Printed Boards)
  • Familiarity with Rigid, Flex, Rigid-Flex board construction and materials, Electroless Nickel/Immersion Gold and Hot Air Solder Leveling surface finishes
  • Familiarity with Coupon/destructive physical analysis (DPA) cross-section evaluation.
  • Understanding of multi-layer board fabrication processes.
  • Bachelor's Science ASQ Certified Quality Engineer desired.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Proficiency in quality analysis techniques (statistical analysis, problem solving, process mapping, SPC, Error Proofing, trouble shooting, corrective action process, SPC continuous improvement etc.
  • Knowledge of and experience with conventional manufacturing methods such as stamping, casting, molding, MIM, and machining, electronic assembly, and military test methods.
