Math Intervention Curriculum Creator

UPPER ARLINGTON CITY SCHOOLS

Position: Curriculum Creator - High School Math Intervention Course

Location: Upper Arlington High School / District Office

Date of Availability: Spring 2026/Summer 2026 (In accordance with MOU Deliverables)

Licensure: Appropriate State of Ohio Licensure (High School Math)

Reports to: Chief Academic Officer

Employment Status: Supplemental Contract (Curriculum Creation)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Description: Develop and design the curriculum for a Math intervention course aligned with the Algebra I curriculum, which focuses on closing learning gaps and reinforcing the foundational concepts necessary for success in high school mathematics. The curriculum must utilize targeted and flexible activities that allow for differentiated instruction, focusing on mastery of essential core skills and mathematical confidence through individualized support and collaborative problem-solving. This curriculum must be designed for delivery as a structured, credit-bearing intervention class that seamlessly supports students' core math instruction.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from a four-year college or university
  • Appropriate State of Ohio licensure
  • Prior teaching experience is preferable
  • Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of academic area and teaching methodology
  • Expert knowledge of American history from Reconstruction to the present.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. Organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Specific background/knowledge base in methodology for integrated learning environments and the use of technology as a tool, not the primary instructor.
  • Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment.
  • Computer/word processing skills, with expertise in managing content via Canvas.

Essential Functions:

  • Design a comprehensive, structured curriculum framework for a credit-bearing math intervention course aligned with the Algebra I curriculum.
  • Identify common foundational learning gaps and map the essential core mathematical concepts required for success in high school.
  • Develop targeted, flexible instructional activities and resources that accommodate diverse learning profiles and allow for individualized instruction.
  • Collaborate with math teachers to ensure the intervention curriculum seamlessly supports and mirrors the pacing of core math instruction.
  • Embed teaching methodologies into the curriculum that actively promote both collaborative group problem-solving and individualized, one-on-one support.
  • Create formative and summative assessment tools to measure student mastery of core skills and allow teachers to track progress.
  • Integrate specific pedagogical strategies and activities designed to reduce math anxiety and foster student confidence in their mathematical abilities.
  • Ensure all curriculum components and course structures meet local, District, and state standards required for a formal, credit-bearing class.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the selection of textbooks, equipment, and other educational materials.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships.
  • Ensure project work occurs outside the regular workday, unless otherwise approved in advance by the Superintendent (or designee).
  • Submit a timesheet for payment, which will be made quarterly for agreed-upon deliverables at an hourly rate of $50.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence by attending professional seminars, workshops, and other events to stay current on relevant issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the District-Level Administrator or designee.
