Job description

Director of Supply Chain

Ohio, Ohio | Permanent

Director of Supply Chain

Where operational discipline meets financial strategy.

Hospitals don’t run without great clinicians. They don’t stay strong without great supply chain leadership.

We are seeking a Director of Supply Chain to lead a transformation in purchasing, receiving, materials management, linen distribution, and storeroom operations for a respected, mission-driven community hospital. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this role sits at the intersection of operational excellence and fiscal stewardship.

This is not a “keep the shelves stocked” role. This is cost strategy, contract leverage, value analysis, and capital discipline.

Direct CFO partnership. You will work side-by-side with executive leadership on capital planning, cost containment, and long-term financial strategy.

True ownership. Prime vendor contracts. Group purchasing strategy. Inventory optimization. Service agreement evaluation. Capital equipment procurement. You own the process from request to acquisition with your team.

Visible financial impact. You’ll uphold the Prudent Buyer Principle and Cost Containment Philosophy — eliminating waste, improving contract compliance, and ensuring resources are used wisely.

Board-level exposure. You’ll prepare capital recommendations for the Finance Committee and support value analysis initiatives that directly influence hospital performance.

Culture that values stewardship. This organization is known for professionalism, integrity, and compassionate care. Leadership is collaborative, mission-focused, financially good stewards, and committed to doing things the right way.

Quality of life. Low cost of living. Strong community. A place where your impact is visible and your leadership is appreciated.

What You’ll Lead

  • Purchasing, Receiving, Materials, Linen Distribution, and Storeroom/Mailroom
  • Annual operating and capital budgeting for Materials Management
  • Experience with IT implementations for GL/materials management.
  • Capital request process and equipment procurement strategy
  • Vendor negotiations and service agreement approvals
  • Inventory oversight and supply chain standardization
  • Value Analysis Committee leadership
  • Cost containment initiatives across departments

You will assess,  build, coach, and develop a strong team aligned with productivity, quality, and accountability.

Who Thrives Here

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–5+ years of hospital materials management experience required
  • Proven leadership experience
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills
  • Financial acumen and comfort presenting to executive leadership
  • Ability to balance service excellence with cost discipline and stewardship

But more than credentials, this role is for someone who:

  • Sees supply chain as strategic, not transactional
  • Understands capital planning and lifecycle management
  • Builds collaborative physician and department relationships
  • Leads with accountability and clarity

If you’re ready to move from managing inventory to shaping financial performance — and want to do it in an organization where your leadership truly matters — this is your opportunity.

Supply chain leadership isn’t behind the scenes here. It’s at the table.
