Job Description

Position Summary:

Responsible to develop Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules to support project pursuits and Preconstruction development, as well as auditing and analyzing project construction schedules developed by Operations teams.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Perform tasks required to develop and maintain schedules for new projects during the Preconstruction phase. Includes calculating material/work quantity requirements, owner milestones and constraints, designing schedules, permitting requirements, material lead times and on-site manpower requirements.
  • Support Preconstruction through the preparation and maintenance of forecasts and schedules. May draft construction network diagrams for specific areas and cash flow projections.
  • Typically develop a high-level baseline schedule with appropriate logic ties. Generally, detail is limited to 3-4 week duration task items. Hand-off this high-level schedule to the Operation teams for further development and Last Planner integration.
  • Evaluate, audit and make recommendation to the Operations teams enhanced schedules to ensure compliance with best practices, and identify opportunities for schedule enhancement.
  • Interface with other departments to provide scheduling data as required.
  • Provide training and guidance to Operations staff to maximize the utilization of the scheduling platform.
  • Develop overall plans and strategies and provide the tools to create efficiencies that enhance the quality and quantity of work produced and enhance the clients' experience. Use established metrics to determine individual and department effectiveness.
  • Participate as required in RFQ/RFP process and perform additional duties as requested by the Director of Preconstruction.
  • Estimate individual projects as time requires or as specific skills are required.
  • Adhere to the Company's Safety Policy, Substance Abuse Policy, Equal Employment Opportunity and Sexual Harassment Policy, and the Company Manual.
  • Other tasks/duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of assigned discipline, scheduling techniques and Critical Path Methods (CPM), plus ability to interpret computerized data and systems is essential
  • Ability to assure accuracy and accountability, and effectively communicate with others
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, decision making and problem-solving skills
  • P6 and Oracle Scheduling software experience preferred

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent work experience. The Scheduling Engineer should possess at least 5 years of extensive construction scheduling experience in a variety of building types. Working knowledge of and ability to select/apply resource monitoring and control techniques such as CPM networks scheduling, computer scheduling techniques, etc. as well as an understanding of the nature of process systems, structures and construction technology required.

The Team Member in this role must be knowledgeable about and follow the company's safety policies and procedures as described in the company safety manual.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:

Must have valid driver's license, good driving record required.
