JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for preparing and serving patient and cafeteria food in compliance with all applicable sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards and following established food production programs and procedures. Responsible for sanitation activities, including dishware, equipment cleaning and janitorial tasks. Responsible for cashiering in the cafeteria.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the productivity of preparation of food and assemble trays, with special attention to modified diets
  • Prepare all menu items using established departmental policies and procedures.
  • Correctly prepare all food served following standard recipes and special diet orders.
  • Assure presentation of all menu items adhering to established standards.
  • Assure all food and other departmental supplies are ordered and received in a timely manner so that adequate inventory levels are maintained to support volume.
  • Demonstrate ability to multi-task and prioritize work in order to meet current needs within established timeframes.
  • Able to take advantage of non-productive time to organize, clean, assist others, or otherwise prepare for future workload.

Serve cafeteria items and prepare the cafeteria for daily operations
  • Consistently approaches and communicates with customers in a positive/respectful manner.
  • Serves food in proper pre-determined portion sizes.
  • Serves food that is the correct serving temperature and quality.

Adherence to Organizational and Departmental Policies
  • Comply with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards.
  • Observe proper food preparation and handling techniques.
  • Attend mandatory hospital education annually.
  • Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Attend department staff meetings

  • Consistently works in a positive and cooperative manner with fellow team members.
  • Consistently addresses conflict in a manner that supports team development.
  • Consistently demonstrates willingness to perform cross functional duties to insure optimal utilization of departmental resources.

Requirements Include
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • A high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior food service experience is preferred.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Able to read, write, and perform basic math calculations
