Role Overview
We are seeking an organized, strategic, and results-driven Intermediate Project Manager to lead complex, multi-faceted initiatives spanning both technology and business operations. In this role, you will be responsible for end-to-end project delivery, ensuring that solutions are executed on time, within scope, and on budget. You will serve as the central bridge between technical engineering teams, business stakeholders, and executive leadership, driving accountability, transparency, and high performance across all project phases.
This is a dynamic role for a professional who thrives in a collaborative, matrixed environment. You will manage project dependencies, track critical paths, oversee financial performance, and produce clear documentation and visual aids to communicate complex concepts. If you possess a strong blend of technical fluency, financial acumen, and exceptional leadership skills, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Execution
โ€ข Full-Lifecycle Ownership: Lead projects from initial requirements definition through development, testing, change management, and final delivery in accordance with agreed-upon timeframes.
โ€ข Planning & Forecasting: Utilize industry-standard project management tools to forecast, plan, estimate, and track project delivery, resource allocation, and budgets.
โ€ข Scope & Quality Oversight: Provide rigorous oversight for project performance, cost, scope, schedule, and quality; conduct regular project quality reviews.
โ€ข Dependency Management: Identify, track, and manage project dependencies and critical paths to prevent bottlenecks and ensure smooth execution.
Financial & Resource Management
โ€ข Cost Tracking: Manage complex project budgets consisting of a combination of internal/external and labor/non-labor cost components.
โ€ข Resource Allocation: Determine team assignments, direct work efforts, and monitor progress across diverse, cross-functional teams (both IT and business units).
โ€ข Status Reporting: Coordinate and provide timely, accurate status reports to leadership teams regarding program stability, compliance, and potential impacts to scope, budget, risk, and resources.
Communication & Process Improvement
โ€ข Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with executive sponsors and key stakeholders, communicating complex topics with clarity and precision.
โ€ข Visual & Written Documentation: Develop clear, concise documentation (processes, problem analyses, action plans) alongside attractive sketches, charts, and diagrams to facilitate communication.
โ€ข Process Alignment: Ensure all work efforts align with organizational technical standards, project management best practices, and PMO methodologies.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
โ€ข Experience Baseline: Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in a project management role leading complex initiatives across IT and business functions.
โ€ข Methodology Mastery: Extensive knowledge and expertise in project management best practices, encompassing Waterfall, Agile, and full SDLC methodologies.
โ€ข Financial & Resource Acumen: Proven experience with project cost management, financial forecasting, and resource capacity planning for large, complex projects involving internal/external labor.
โ€ข Core Competencies: Exceptional leadership skills with a proven ability to coach, develop, and indirectly manage team members; strong business process analysis and mapping skills; experience implementing change management frameworks.
โ€ข Communication: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated ability to engage executive sponsors and diverse project teams effectively.
Preferred Attributes
โ€ข Professional Project Management certification (PMP).
โ€ข Agile certifications such as Professional Scrum Master (PSM) or Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO).
โ€ข Prior experience working within the energy, utility, or highly regulated technical sectors.
โ€ข Strong background in facilitating cross-functional collaboration and conflict resolution.
