Purpose
The High Pressure Boiler Technician operates, serves and maintains power equipment and systems. This includes such items as boilers, pumps and turbines. The technician is also responsible for checks of condensate systems throughout the plant. This position maintains the systems that generate heat for the buildings in the cooler parts of the year, as well as steam used in the heat treat and bonding processes. This position maintains and operates the ultra-filtration system for the plant. This position maintains process water system critical to cool air compressors to prevent failures.
Responsibilities
  • Basic mechanical repairs to pump and boiler equipment.
  • Check and maintain traps in boiler room on steam mains.
  • Routinely monitor equipment.
  • Takes water samples and tests water samples.
  • Takes necessary corrective actions to maintain proper chemical levels.
  • Perform repairs as needed.
  • Logs all changes and problems related to the boiler/boiler controls.
  • Maintains plant used oil system.
  • Maintains plant process water system.
  • Maintains Abcor (Koch) water purification system.
  • Repairs MARPOSS gauges and orders replacement parts as needed.
  • General problem solving for system repairs.
  • Repairs PPL gauges and orders replacement parts as needed.
  • Manages and records water releases to state tributaries as required by Ohio EPA.

Skills Required
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • General knkowledge of Koch Membrane water purification system.
  • Must be able to work 12 hours shift.

Education Requirements
  1. Must have High School Diploma or Equivilent.
  2. Must have Ohio High Pressure Boiler Operator License.
