General Operators start at $21.17 per hour + $0.75 per hour shift premium. Additional pay increases at 6 months and 1 year of employment. 

Tenneco Litchfield is a manufacturing facility belonging to the Clean Air division of Tenneco.  Our primarily focus is producing full exhaust systems and related components for OEM's (Automotive Plants)and aftermarket parts.  Our major customers are General Motors, Ford, Toyota, VW, Nissan, and many aftermarket vehicle replacement parts.  We have 3 departments known as Canning, Bending and Final assembly.  Canning is the production zone where catalytic converters and different filters are assembled and sealed inside their metal outer shells. Our bending department is responsible for shaping straight metal in complex, curved shapes to fit under the vehicle, and tail pipes. Final assembly at the end of the shop is where, bent pipe, stuffed cans, hangers and flanges are all welded together to make a vehicle ready exhaust system.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

SUMMARY: Responsible for tending to metal fabricating machines such as, but not limited to, cut-off saws, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, sizers, forming machines, spinning machines, and punches that cut, shape, and bend metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures by performing the duties and responsibilities as outlined within this job description. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.) 

1.    Produce parts as directed by material control, and or the engineering department so to attain the required production levels and quality.

2.    Prep and inspect parts for final production.

3.    Run first time production parts as directed and perform Poka Yokes.4.    Participate in job rotation through each cell which addresses cross training and agronomical issues.

5.    Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.

6.    Set stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.

7.    Position work piece against stops or align layout marks with die or blades.

8.    Push button or depress pedal to activate machine.

9.    Observe machine operations to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.

10.    Monitor the output of quality parts through inspection, scrap records, statistical process controls, and station control sheets.

11.    Measure work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.

12.    Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from work piece

13.    Perform 5S activities.

14.    Perform other duties as assigned.
