Job Summary

In an effort offer development opportunities, Electric Operations would like to extend the following rotational assignment to qualified associates, therefore at this time, only current PSEG employees are being considered. 

This position will provide strategic and proactive leadership for the Electric T&D Operating Division including;  Outside Plant Distribution System expansion and reliability design, Division work plan development/prioritization/coordination/scheduling, New Business supply planning including solar/EV charging/electrification, overall project management for Division-managed projects, overall Division budget management and oversight, and main Division interface to Asset Management and DP&C on project initiation and execution. Overall technical responsibility for the design of the outside plant system to provide safe and reliable power to approximately a half million electric customers in a Division.
As an employee of PSE&G Electric Operations, you should be aware that during storm/outage restoration efforts, you will be required to perform functions different from normal operations and your regular work schedule. Main storm responsibilities include leading the Division in its restoration functions. You will also be required to perform Manager On-Call responsibilities. You may also be required to work in an alternate location since Division resources have multiple reporting locations. 

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead, direct and manage Distribution system planning and develop associated work scopes and estimates in support Distribution System Reinforcement, New Business, Reliability Improvements, and other programs.
  • Direct and oversee the Division's $30M+ O&M and $60M+ Capital budgets. Directly support the planning and execution of the overall Utility Capital plan affecting the Division ($200M+) plus BPU approved Programs
  • Function as Manager on call and lead storm restoration efforts to include acting as Storm Commander. Develop and direct the implementation of emergency plans to ensure system integrity and initiate the investigation/reporting of system abnormalities as required.
  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic objectives at the Division and Electric Operations level
  • Temporarily fill in for the Sr. Director ET&D - Operations in the Division as needed
  • Provide matrixed leadership and guidance to other Division Departments in the areas of work plan prioritization, budgets, and balanced scorecard initiatives  
  • Lead industrial relations matters pertaining to Division resource allocation and assigned grievance matters
  • Oversee the planning support of Operations including outage planning support
  • Direct the development of plans of supply for large new business customers, including solar/EV charging/electrification/renewables 
  • Provide strategy and direction in the development of the Division work plan and ensure full integration with Centralized Work Planning, Asset Management, Utility Finance and Projects & Construction
  • Lead and direct the Division's interface with Projects & Construction and other entities supporting projects such as Asset Management, and Renewables & Energy Solutions
  • Provides strategy and direction in the development of the Division work plan and ensures full integration with Centralized Work Planning, Asset Management, Utility Finance and Projects & Construction
  • Support project initiation, feasibility and scope review activities, including providing Division approvals
  • Direct and oversee the development of project contingency plans
  • Direct and oversee the project management responsibilities for specific projects assigned to the Division
  • Oversee the personal development of associates within the department
  • Lead efforts to periodically review industry benchmarking and implement relevant improvements to achieve Company and business unit goals
  • Maintain and apply working knowledge of PSEG Standards for Business Controls and meet management's expectations for effective internal business controls
  • The Distribution Manager Eng & Resources will directly report to this role 
  • Ability to rotate through various similar roles throughout Electric T&D
Job Specific Qualifications
  • BS/BA in Engineering or Business Management or other closely related degree or a minimum of 10 years of Electric Utility experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant knowledge and experience in electric or gas distribution design / engineering, operations, maintenance or construction.
  • Knowledge of the Electric Distribution system and processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork ability, exceptional communication skills with all levels in the organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership and technical skills with experience in change management, construction, maintenance, financial analysis, work planning competencies, experience in labor relations negotiations/issue resolution.
  • Knowledge of contract management and administration, strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated managerial experience, knowledge of environmental and regulatory compliance, demonstrated ability to apply quality tools within the context of process improvement efforts and achieve results.
  • Proficient in the utilization of workforce management systems, e.g., SAP, MWMS, OMS, etc.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with all levels in the organization.
  • Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft office suite.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Possess and maintain a valid US driver's license.

Desired

  • MBA or advanced management training.
  • IBEW Contract management.
  • OPEIU Contract management.
  • PMP Certification.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial and/or work resource planning and forecasting.
