JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Provides first line supervision of Entergy full time and temporary Chemistry personnel in a safe, productive manner, manages multiple and possibly conflicting priorities, and demonstrates proficiency at managing a multi-disciplined group, possibly including union and contractor oversight.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

SET and reinforce standards and expectations through monitoring individual behaviors on a regular basis for the application of Chemistry Fundamentals and take action to correct performance gaps.

MONITOR the status of and provide oversight for individual programs (e.g., PWR primary water, PWR secondary water, BWR water, open cooling water, closed cooling water, RETs, REMP, chemical control, hazardous waste, groundwater monitoring, NPDES, sewage treatment, air quality, SPCC, counting room equipment, etc.) and have in-process actions to address gaps in program implementation.

PROVIDE support for the Chemistry Superintendent in development of business plans, excellence plans, and long range vision strategy.

PROVIDE oversight of department benchmarks and assessments.

PROVIDE support for Path to Premier initiatives, Employee Driven Excellence, and clear Strategic Plan items.

PROVIDE support for outage planning and preparation.

PROVIDE a conduit for communication between Chemistry, Engineering, and

Projects for system trend reviews, system health reports, and project implementation.

PROVIDE back-up to the Chemistry Superintendent  as needed through development as a “Ready-Now” candidate

PROVIDE technical direction and supervision for chemistry duties.

SUPPORT the laboratory supervisor needs through program monitoring and recommendations for additional sampling and monitoring and provide recommendations to the laboratory supervisor for action for any chemistry activities that are needed but not on the schedule for communications to Operations.

SUPPORT the work management process for the Prevention, Detection, and Correction of Chemistry related equipment and systems, including radwaste processing systems.

ENSURE site Chemistry Program related procedures meet or exceed industry guidance (e.g., EPRI, INPO, vendor, ANI, etc.).

VERIFY all identified procedure revisions, updates or enhancements which are required to perform an activity are promptly completed.

ENSURE personnel are qualified and proficient to do the work when making assignments. Support training and mentoring where appropriate, within job assignments.

DELEGATE and track assignments.

ENSURE ALARA is practiced by chemistry personnel.

REVIEW, evaluate and trend chemistry data.

ENSURE condition reports are written for adverse trends or out-of-specification conditions.

SUPPORT training by reviewing lesson plans and approve objectives, as needed.

MENTOR staff to develop “Ready-Now” candidates for promotion within the department, site or fleet.

PARTICIPATE in peer calls per EN-FAP-OM-024 and Working Group calls.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

High school diploma or equivalent work experience.

Minimum experience required of the position

5 years of experience in the related field. (B.S. in Engineering or related technical degree may be credited for 3 years of experience.)

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

2 years of technical training and technical proficiency in the assigned area. Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operation. Proficiency with current computer business applications.

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position

SRO or certification on BWR or PWR (desired). Candidates for this position must meet requirements specified in ANSI/ANS Standards and Regulatory Guidelines. In addition, site Technical Specifications, FSAR, or procedures may contain additional requirements. Hiring Managers are required to submit attachment 9.1 from EN-HR-137 for any candidate selected for this job. Candidates must meet or exceed ANSI/ANS 3.1-1978. ANSI Section 4.3.2 - Supervisors Not Requiring NRC Licenses must have: High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years of experience in craft or discipline he/she supervises.
