Job Summary

The role is responsible for ensuring robust project controls for cost, schedule, scope, and risk management across Entergy projects. This includes providing guidance and direct oversight to Project Controls Specialists throughout the project lifecycle, integrating with the Project Management team to facilitate successful project execution, and ensuring that projects deliver reliable cost and schedule estimates, meeting business objectives on time and within budget. The position also ensures contract agreements accurately reflect project control requirements, oversees contractors’ compliance with these controls, and supports both project and regulatory reporting. Additionally, the role promotes a culture of safety and adherence to safety rules, reinforcing safe behavior throughout all phases of the project.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Implements all Project Management Standards in the area of cost, schedule, scope, WBS, and risk and issues management for assigned projects.
  • Performs rigorous and independent project assessments of projects within Entergy's project portfolio to ensure compliance with Entergy's SGP and project management standards; serves as a SGP Gate Reviewer.
  • Conducts training on the Entergy SGP, project management standards/implementation guides and various project controls disciplines, such as Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA).
  • Assists in the performance of analysis, optimization, and reporting on Entergy project portfolio including assessments of risk associated with completing planned scopes of work according to multi-year budget plans.
  • Works with the scheduler assigned to projects to prepare and maintain the Owner's schedule and to integrate the Owner's and all contractor's schedules into the master schedule for the project.
  • Works with Cost Analysts assigned to projects to prepare and maintain the required cost reports and forecasts.
  • Performs schedule analytics to determine the quality of the schedule and to perform progress assessments.
  • Monitors and reports on compliance with schedule related contractual requirements by contractors.
  • Validates the Estimate to Completion and Estimate at Completion forecast.
  • Prepares contingency analysis and report on contingency status.
  • Collaborates with the project manager and other project team members to identify, characterize and document project risks in a risk register and develops mitigation plans in accordance with the Standards.
  • Works with the project manager and other project team members to manage the Change Management process and document clearly throughout the project lifecycle; documents and tracks approved project changes.
  • Work is performed in both an office setting and in field conditions.
Minimum education required of the position

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Project Management (or related field) OR 8 years equivalent/related work experience (in addition to the Minimum Experience requirement) in lieu of a degree.

Minimum experience required of the position
  • 6 years minimum capital project management and/or project control experience with project controls focus. Utility capital project experience is essential.
  • Project controls experience on large scale capital projects.
  • Experience of project controls implemented on projects executed under various types of contract agreements including EPC.
  • Both contractor and owner construction project controls experience.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

Candidates for this role must possess both contractor and owner construction project controls experience. The position requires superior knowledge of scheduling, cost control, and risk management fundamentals, as well as proficiency with scheduling software packages, spreadsheet-based analytics, and project and construction management principles. Strong critical thinking and complex problem-solving abilities are essential, including the capacity to use logic and reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions and implement effective strategies. Technical expertise in project management and project controls, combined with business acumen, is needed to provide SME-level guidance across business units. Demonstrable experience supporting project teams at construction sites, engineering offices, and fabrication facilities is important, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Functional competencies must cover cost, schedule, reporting, change management, contract management, and risk management. Preferred qualifications include certifications from PMI and/or AACEi and hands-on experience with Primavera P6.
