Job description

Job Summary/Purpose 

The Work Readiness Coordinator leads the coordination and planning for the Region around site access, permits, and conditions prior to work start and assesses job sites for access, environmental, and safety conditions. Manages the region view and indirectly leads and advises Field Coordinators at a network level to assesses job scope and complexity to assign priorities and resourcing needs; coordinates and verifies material and equipment availability; secures permits and environmental clearances; validates designs are complete; develops switching or outage plans; prepares job sites with pre-staged materials and traffic control; and manages field paperwork and safety documentation including EWPIS, switching orders, and hot line holds. Provides daily field status updates documenting progress and issues; identifies process improvements related to access, materials, or coordination; and maintains documentation supporting field readiness procedures. During emergency and storm response, verifies site access and readiness and supports crews overcoming roadblocks while ensuring equipment and materials availability. Advises and informs Sr Region and State Leadership on these items to help inform decision making that impacts storm restorations efforts.   

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Fieldwork Execution & Site Assessment – Leads coordination and planning for the Region while verifying site access, permits, and conditions prior to work start; visit job sites to assess access, environmental, and safety conditions; and ensure all prerequisites are met before crews begin work to prevent delays and safety issues.
  • Planning & Work Prioritization – Manages the region view and indirectly leads and advises Field Coordinators at a network level to assess job scope, complexity, and urgency to assign priority and resourcing needs; coordinate and verify availability of materials and equipment; secure necessary permits, environmental clearances, and utility locate coordinates; validate that materials, locates, and designs are complete – working cross functional with leaders across Supply Chain, Engineering, etc.; develop and verify switching or outage plans; prepare job sites with pre-staged materials, traffic control, and logistics; conduct readiness and safety reviews; and manage field paperwork, safety documentation, and inspection logs including EWPIS and switching orders.
  • Reporting & Compliance – Provide daily field status updates documenting progress and issues to Sr Region Manager; maintain accurate records and documentation to support regulatory compliance and operational transparency.
  • Continuous Improvement – Identify field process improvements related to access, materials, or coordination; works cross functionally within the state and also across the operating territory to maintain documentation and support updates to field readiness procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Emergency & Storm Response – Verify site access, permits, and conditions during emergency events; ensure site readiness; and support crews in the field to overcome roadblocks while ensuring equipment and materials are available to maintain restoration efforts. Including dispatching responsibilities. Advises and informs Sr Region and State Leadership on these items to help inform decision making that impacts storm restorations efforts.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

  • High School Diploma or GED, with preference for some college coursework or an Associate Degree

Minimum experience required of the position

  • 4+ years of Electric Utility, Work Management, Engineering design, or similar relevant experience.
  • Also able to demonstrate the capabilities around hand off and the integrated process of job execution and the work order life cycle.
  • Must have a working knowledge of scheduling process and systems.  

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

  • The role requires understanding of end‑to‑end work order life-cycle (planning, scheduling, and job package development, including the ability to prepare accurate, complete, and constructible work packages) that align with standards and approved work methods.
  • It requires skill in developing realistic, conflict‑free schedules based on workforce capacity, material readiness, permitting status, and operational constraints, while maintaining disciplined workflow coordination across Work Management, Control Center, Engineering, Construction, GIS, System Operations, and Field Coordination.
  • The role demonstrates the ability to verify administrative and logistical prerequisites—such as permits, locates, customer notifications, environmental requirements, and material availability—prior to scheduling or releasing work.
  • It also requires knowledge of outage preparation processes, including validating switching prerequisites, system constraints, and customer impacts to support safe, efficient outages.
  • The position must demonstrate strong problem‑solving ability, coordination skills, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous improvement through feedback loops, documentation updates, and incorporation of lessons learned to enhance planning quality and operational readiness.
