To thrive as a Network Engineer, you need a solid understanding of networking protocols, troubleshooting, and infrastructure, typically supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with networking hardware, Cisco or Juniper devices, and certifications like CCNA or CompTIA Network+ are highly valued. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help in diagnosing issues and collaborating with IT teams. These competencies are essential for maintaining secure, efficient, and reliable network operations critical to organizational performance.

How does a networking professional typically collaborate with other IT teams within an organization?

Networking professionals frequently work alongside system administrators, security teams, and help desk staff to ensure smooth and secure operation of an organization's IT infrastructure. Collaboration often involves troubleshooting connectivity issues, implementing network upgrades, and ensuring network security protocols are properly integrated with other systems. Effective communication and teamwork are essential, as network changes can impact multiple departments. Regular meetings, cross-functional projects, and coordinated response to incidents are common ways networking professionals interact with peers across IT.

What are networking professionals?

Networking professionals are specialists who design, implement, manage, and troubleshoot computer networks within organizations. They ensure reliable communication and data sharing between devices, maintain network security, and optimize network performance. These professionals may work with local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), cloud networks, and other related technologies. Their roles often include tasks such as configuring routers and switches, monitoring network traffic, and resolving connectivity issues. Networking professionals are essential for keeping businesses and organizations connected and secure in today's digital world.

What careers are there in networking?

Careers in networking include roles such as network administrator, network engineer, systems analyst, and cybersecurity specialist. These positions typically require knowledge of networking protocols, hardware, and security tools, and often benefit from certifications like Cisco CCNA or CompTIA Network+.

    Job description

As Director of Technical Product Partnerships, you will define and lead Datadog's strategy for building and scaling product-led partnerships with independent software vendors. You will identify and execute opportunities where Datadog technology and partner capabilities combine to create differentiated joint offerings that accelerate customer adoption and platform value. Working closely with Product, Engineering, and GTM leadership, you'll bring new integrations and co-developed products to market that extend Datadog's reach and deepen ecosystem engagement. This is a high-visibility role with direct impact on Datadog's growth strategy and long-term product roadmap.

At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships that it builds, the creativity it brings to the table, and the collaboration of being together. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our employees can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

    What You'll Do:

    • Define and execute Datadog's technical product partnership strategy, focusing on joint product development and co-innovation with leading software vendors.
    • Identify and prioritize high-impact ISV partners that complement Datadog's platform vision and deliver meaningful value to shared customers.
    • Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to scope, design, and deliver integrated product experiences and co-branded solutions.
    • Partner with GTM, Business Development, and Marketing teams to launch, scale, and measure the success of joint offerings.
    • Establish frameworks for evaluating partnership opportunities, including technical feasibility, commercial value, and customer impact.
    • Represent Datadog's product and technology in partner engagements, ensuring alignment with our roadmap, architecture, and long-term strategic goals.

    Who You Are:

    • Experienced product or partnerships leader with 10+ years in SaaS, cloud, or platform ecosystems.
    • Proven ability to build and scale ISV or technology partnership programs that drive measurable product adoption and revenue growth.
    • Strong technical acumen, able to collaborate effectively with engineering and product teams to shape integrated solutions.
    • Strategic and analytical thinker who can assess markets, identify joint value propositions, and translate them into actionable roadmaps.
    • Excellent communicator and relationship-builder who can influence executives, navigate complex partner organizations, and represent Datadog externally.
    • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment with high autonomy and accountability for results.

Datadog values people from all walks of life. We understand not everyone will meet all the above qualifications on day one. That's okay. If you're passionate about technology and want to grow your skills, we encourage you to apply.

    Benefits and Growth:

    • New hire stock equity (RSUs) and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)
    • Continuous professional development, product training, and career pathing
    • Intradepartmental mentor and buddy program for in-house networking
    • An inclusive company culture, ability to join our Community Guilds (Datadog employee resource groups)
    • Access to Inclusion Talks, our Internal panel discussions
    • Free, global mental health benefits for employees and dependents age 6+
    • Competitive global benefits

Benefits and Growth listed above may vary based on the country of your employment and the nature of your employment with Datadog.
