While this role is primarily onsite at our Kent office, we offer flexible work day start and end times, and additional options to help you maintain work life balance - choose between five-8 hour days or four-9 hour days with a half day Friday.
What You'll Do
  • Designs a complete and complex framework, system and product.
  • Defines processes for technical platforms, systems specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility
  • Uses current programming language and technologies, writes codes, completes programming, and performs testing and debugging of applications
  • Completes documentation and procedure for installation and maintenance
  • Interacts with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications
  • Conceives system interfaces and business application prototypes
  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves system design weaknesses
  • Influences the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems
  • Provides multi-layered technical expertise for next-generation initiatives
  • Responsible for complicated design and architecture
  • Ability to mentor and delegate to more junior engineers
  • Leads team of developers
  • Writes detailed design and communicates appropriately
  • Assists other areas to develop and maintain timeliness of projects

What You'll Bring
  • BS in Software, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
  • 7+ years' experience in embedded systems and board bring-up
  • Proficiency in Linux OS
  • Proficiency in C/C++/C# and Python
  • Working knowledge of serial buses, i2c, SPI, and Ethernet
  • Solid understanding of network protocols such as PTP, NTP, DHCP, etc., network debugging of multicast and unicast packets. Ability to read RFCs to understand new protocols and requirements
  • Working proficiency in Java/Android OS
  • Working knowledge of AVB, IGMP, RTP, H.264/H.265
  • Strong communication and team collaboration skills
  • Ability for travel to customer sites, not more than 2 weeks per year

Compensation:
  • Base salary: $140,000 through $180,000, influenced by several factors including experience, skill set, education, certifications, market conditions, and business needs.
  • The salary range specified is applicable to positions within Washington State and reflects various factors considered in compensation decisions.
  • All employees are eligible for our highly competitive Quarterly Profit-Sharing Incentive program.

Astronics Connectivity Systems & Certification (Astronics CSC) designs, engineers, manufactures and certifies reliable digital in-flight entertainment and cabin management systems (IFE/CMS) for the corporate, private and VIP aircraft industry. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Qualifications/ Experience
  1. Multi-discipline experience in military and commercial electronic systems ranging from test equipment and instrumentation, flight electronics, computers, jet engines, and other special purpose electronic systems, including RF subsystems.
  2. Software experience with automatic test system development environments such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/C/C++/C# VisualBasic, or C#.
  3. Experience working with the full software development life cycle and knowledge of modern software architectures, design, and development techniques.
  4. Competency with C# and .NET
  5. Experience with electronic circuit design, test systems development, and test systems integration.
  6. Experience with GPIB, VME/VXI, and PXI/PXIe test platforms is a plus.
  7. Thorough knowledge of the process in taking a product design from concept to production with demonstrated success in test solutions regarding analog and digital electronics development, integration, and troubleshooting.
  8. Analytical reasoning and problem solving with knowledge in performing root cause analysis and recommending corrective action to resolve test failures.
  9. Ability to lead and mentor other developers
  10. 10+ years of hands on engineering design and software experience
  11. Must be a US person/US Citizen

Education: Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Computer Engineering or Computer Science (BSCE/BSCS) from four-year college is required
Computer Skills:
  1. LabVIEW, Test Stand, LabWindows CVI, C/C++/VisualBasic, or C#.
  2. Word processing, Spreadsheets, Internet software, E-mail, Database software
  3. Experience with Altium Designer for schematic capture and layout
