Job description

The Field Operations Manager oversees field operations for concrete construction projects, including sitework, foundations, slabs, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, parking lots, ADA-compliant improvements, and other concrete structures. This role ensures that work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with company quality standards and client expectations.

The Field Operations Manager leads Superintendents, Foremen, and field personnel while coordinating with project management, estimating, safety, and executive leadership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

· Direct daily field operations across multiple concrete construction projects.

· Supervise Superintendents, Foremen, and field crews to support efficient project execution.

· Create and implement work schedules, staffing plans, and equipment-use strategies.

· Track project progress and resolve operational challenges proactively.

· Ensure projects meet production, schedule, and profitability goals.

· Perform regular site visits and operational reviews.

Project Execution

· Coordinate project startup, scheduling, logistics, and resource allocation.

· Review project plans, specifications, contracts, and scope requirements.

· Partner with Project Managers to align field operations with project objectives.

· Manage subcontractors and vendors to maintain quality and performance standards.

· Oversee proper installation of:

o Concrete sidewalks

o Curbs and gutters

o ADA ramps and accessibility improvements

o Parking lots and pavement structures

o Foundations and slabs

o Structural concrete elements

Safety & Compliance

· Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all operations.

· Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, local, state, and federal regulations.

· Conduct safety audits, jobsite inspections, and incident investigations.

· Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement measures.

· Ensure crews follow company safety policies and procedures.

Quality Control

· Uphold quality standards for workmanship and materials.

· Review field production reports and quality documentation.

· Inspect work for compliance with project specifications and ADA requirements.

· Resolve quality concerns and implement corrective measures.

Financial Management

· Monitor labor productivity, equipment costs, and project budgets.

· Review production reports and job cost data.

· Help forecast staffing, equipment, and material needs.

· Identify ways to improve efficiency and reduce costs.

· Support change order documentation and cost recovery efforts.

Personnel Management

· Support workforce planning and succession development.

· Address employee relations matters and performance concerns.

· Promote teamwork and accountability across all crews.

Client Relations

· Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, contractors, inspectors, and stakeholders.

· Attend project meetings and operational reviews.

· Respond to client concerns and support customer satisfaction.

· Represent the company professionally at all times.

Qualifications

Education

· High school diploma or GED required.

· Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Experience

· 7+ years of concrete construction experience.

· 5+ years of supervisory or operations management experience.

· Experience managing multiple crews and projects at the same time.

· Experience with commercial, industrial, municipal, and civil concrete projects preferred.

· Strong knowledge of ADA requirements for sidewalks, ramps, and accessibility improvements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Strong leadership and team management skills.

· Excellent planning and organizational skills.

· Knowledge of concrete construction methods, materials, and equipment.

· Understanding of project scheduling and job cost management.

· Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, project management software, and construction reporting systems.

· Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

· Ability to walk active construction sites for extended periods.

· Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

· Ability to climb, bend, stoop, and navigate uneven terrain.

Preferred Certifications

· OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour Construction Certification

· First Aid/CPR Certification

· NCCER Construction Certifications

· Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
