North America Community Manager

Global Technology Industry Association

Downers Grove, IL • On-site

Full-time

Job description

Description:

Who we are:

The Global Technology Industry Association (GTIA) is the only vendor-neutral, non-profit trade association that connects and represents the global IT channel. We set our members up for success by providing benefits that include trusted resources, AI & cybersecurity programs, and networking opportunities for every employee of our member companies. In addition, the association sets industry standards that enable companies to build sustainable, secure, and profitable businesses in an ever-changing technology landscape. Internationally, GTIA represents hundreds of thousands of professionals from more than 2,700 ITSPs, vendors, distributors, and other organizations serving the IT channel.
Summary:

The North America Community Manager is responsible for building and overseeing the regional community, ensuring its growth, engagement, and overall success. This role serves as the community’s primary industry representative — bridging local chapter groups and the broader association — with a particular focus on the ITSP. You will work in partnership with a second North America Community Manager; together, serving the region as a team.

We are looking for a recognized, respected voice in the IT channel — someone whose phone gets answered and whose network will follow them here. You know the ITSP business model from the inside: the margin pressures, the talent challenges, the vendor landscape, and the peer relationships that actually move the needle. You understand what ITSPs need and how to talk to them — not at them.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work in close partnership with your peer North America Community Manager to serve the entire region, coordinate priorities, and deliver an exemplary member experience
  • Be the visible, credible face of GTIA across North America — at industry events, on stage, online, and in the field — with depth and presence in the ITSP community
  • Recruit new members by leveraging your existing channel relationships, bringing your network — especially ITSPs — into the GTIA community
  • Build, engage, and grow the GTIA North America community, spanning ITSPs, vendors, distributors, and channel partners at every stage
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase member engagement and retention, with a clear understanding of what drives value for ITSP businesses specifically
  • Articulate GTIA’s value proposition with clarity and conviction — not a sales pitch, but a real conversation with people you understand
  • Champion our mission, vision, and core values — Member First | Growth Minded | Build Together | Share the Vibe — in everything you do
  • Identify and collaborate with strategic partners to advance GTIA’s membership and industry objectives
  • Lead local chapter activation and engagement across the region, supporting the broader GTIA global community structure
  • Collaborate with GTIA internal teams to align regional activity with organizational priorities
  • Stay informed about ITSP industry trends, developments, and best practices; incorporate relevant insights into community initiatives and strategies
  • Surface member insights, needs, and feedback so GTIA continuously evolves its value for the people we serve
  • Show up consistently — in community forums, on social media, at events, and in the conversations that matter to ITSPs

Key Performance Metrics:

  • Member Engagement Rate: Active participation and interaction among community members, including event attendance, community forums, peer conversations, and program involvement
  • Member Retention Rate: Ability to retain members over time, reflecting the community’s value and satisfaction — especially within the ITSP segment
  • Community Health Score: A composite metric assessing overall community health through member satisfaction, content relevance, executive council confidence, and the balance of new versus active members
  • Event and Program Success Rate: Success of community events and programs based on attendance, participant feedback, and achievement of specific objectives
  • Member Contribution Rate: Level of member investment reflected through sharing expertise, participation in programs, and contributions to community resources

Why Join Us:

We're a team of driven, creative problem-solvers who are passionate about empowering people to realize their full potential. We foster a collaborative and inclusive culture where ideas are welcomed, growth is encouraged, and success is celebrated. We're not just looking for employees, we're looking for partners who share our vision and are eager to contribute to our purpose. If you're ready to unlock your potential and reach new heights, join us today.

Our team works hard, and we recognize the importance of taking care of our own. We offer our employees a comprehensive suite of benefit offerings, including:

  • Medical benefits
  • Annual corporate bonus
  • Opportunity for spot bonuses up to $2,500
  • GTIA contribution towards the workplace retirement account
  • Flexible work schedule, with summer hours for five months
  • Generous paid time off
  • 30-Day paid sabbatical after 10 years of employment
  • Annual broadband reimbursement
  • Home office equipment reimbursement
  • Various other benefits and rewards

GTIA seeks excellence through diversity in its staff. We prohibit discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, veteran status, or marital status.

Requirements:

Skills and Qualifications

  • An established reputation in the IT channel — particularly with ITSPs — whose trust you have earned over time and who will follow you to GTIA
  • Deep, firsthand understanding of the ITSP business model: the financial pressures, operational challenges, vendor relationships, and community dynamics that define the space
  • Genuine passion for the channel community and the businesses and people who make it up
  • Proven ability to build engaged communities — not just fill membership rosters, but create belonging and momentum
  • Compelling communication skills: strong written and verbal ability to effectively engage members, facilitate discussions, and promote community initiatives
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships, fostering trust and collaboration across the ecosystem and beyond
  • Comfort and credibility operating in a vendor-neutral environment — you represent the community, not any one company
  • Capacity to develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives
  • Ability to identify challenges and opportunities within the community, develop creative solutions, and address issues effectively to enhance member satisfaction and engagement
  • Strong understanding of common technologies and business models found within the IT channel, with depth in managed services
  • Strong facilitation and public speaking skills, with experience in webinars, panels, and live events
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and conducting online meetings and webinars
  • Prior experience building and driving inclusion programs
  • Self-direction and entrepreneurial energy: you bring ideas, execute on them, and know when to ask for help
  • Willingness to travel for events, member visits, and community activations across North America

Education and/or Experience

  • 6+ years of direct experience in the IT channel, with significant exposure to the ITSP segment
  • Degree preferred but not required for the role
