Job Description

“What would you say you do here?”

  • Draft and negotiate a variety of above-the-line agreements for animated series, specials, specialty features and short-form content, including rights acquisition agreements and agreements for writers, voice actors, producers, and consultants for DreamWorks Animation Television and Universal Kids Digital Studios projects.

  • Serve as day-to-day legal liaison with senior production staff.

  • Advise and interface with all key company departments, including content security, production, accounting, finance, labor and employment, marketing, consumer products, insurance, tax, distribution, trademark, and clearance teams on matters related to service vendors and animated series.

  • Be responsible for all legal aspects of assigned series, including drafting chain of title documentation and documentation summarizing talent approvals, minors work permits, consultations and rights.

  • Special projects, as needed.

Qualifications

“What do I need to have in order to do this job?”

  • Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school, or foreign equivalent

  • Member in good standing of the state bar of California, or member in good standing of another state bar and qualified to register as California in-house counsel

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a motion picture studio, production company, network, law firm or other relevant experience.

  • Superior drafting, negotiation, communication and organizational skills, ability to handle multiple priorities and work under deadlines.

  • Ability to build interdepartmental relationships at all levels

Desired Qualifications: “What can I offer?”

  • Transactional experience. Experience drafting and negotiating production services, animation and live-action television contracts and/or other entertainment contracts a plus.

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks. Salary range: $140,000 - $170,000 (bonus eligible)
