Job description

Joby Aviation is seeking a results-driven Manufacturing Project Manager to lead and sustain continuous improvement initiatives across our production operations. This role sits at the intersection of quality, efficiency, and strategic execution.  Driving measurable gains in quality, capacity, lead time, cost, and production certification. You will own the full project lifecycle from opportunity identification through implementation and results verification.


  • Develop and manage a portfolio of CI projects aligned with annual operations goals; track milestones, risks, and financial impact.
  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies to analyze root causes and design sustainable process solutions.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams spanning engineering, quality, supply chain, and production.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs — including OEE, scrap rate, DPMO, and on-time delivery — to quantify improvement outcomes.
  • Coordinate production certification activities (PPAP, FAI, process validation) from planning through customer approval.
  • Build and maintain CI dashboards and reporting cadences for operations leadership and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate workshops and structured problem-solving events (A3, DMAIC, VSM) to accelerate team capability.
  • Partner with finance to develop project business cases and validate cost savings upon project closure.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement through training, coaching, and visible leadership on the shop floor.

  • Bachelor Degree and at least 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations or engineering roles
  • In lieu of Bachelor Degree, at least 10 years of related experience
  • 3+ years managing cross-functional improvement projects
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt 
  • Demonstrated cost savings and quality improvement results
  • Experience with PPAP, APQP, or process validation
  • Strong data analysis skills; proficiency in Excel or Minitab

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt 
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification 

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $95,600 - $131,500/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Joby also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan with a company match, an employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, and more.
