Holt CAT is the largest Caterpillar dealership of heavy equipment in the United States. We have a full-time, Electrical Power Generator - Field Service Tech position available at our Georgetown  Texas location. The hours of the position are Monday-Friday from 7 AM to 4 PM. Possible overtime, including weekends.  Daily travel and overnight travel are required throughout Texas.

Job Description
:

 This position is responsible for providing troubleshooting and high-quality repair service on power generation, gas and diesel engines, and ATS (Automatic Transfer Switches), to respond to customers, needs in a positive, safe, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed.

 The Field Service Technician III provides face-to-face customer service located at an off-site location and is responsible for the troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and reconditioning of various light and heavy construction equipment. 

Essential Functions

This position is responsible for providing troubleshooting and high-quality repair service on power generation, gas and diesel engines, and ATS (Automatic Transfer Switches), to respond to customers, needs in a positive, safe, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed.
The incumbent in this position is expected to model the following practices on a daily basis: 1) Demonstrate alignment with the company's mission and core business values; 2) Collaborate with key internal/external resources; 3) Participate in ongoing self-development. 

  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Performs basic to intermediate repairs and minimal troubleshooting offsite with minimal supervision
  •  Performs basic to intermediate troubleshooting and minimal diagnoses of equipment malfunctions and failures
  •  Removes and install parts, disassembles and assembles components to CAT specifications
  • Tests, makes adjustments, and verifies proper operation of all repairs and adjustments
  •   Prepares and completes all job related documents, writes service reports, orders parts, and maintains clear customer records; in addition, accesses databases required to complete job
  •  Operates equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates
  •  Maintains service vehicle inspection records, daily inspections and driver logs as required by the Department of Transportation
  • Adheres to contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations
  • Maintains all company equipment, tools, and vehicle in a good, clean, and working order
  • Communicates job progress to supervisor and customer as needed
  •  Completes assigned jobs and task to meet flat rate time and re-work standards 
  •  Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
  • Completes all assigned Technician Training Path courses and safety training in a timely and proficient manner
  •  Projects professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance; may be relied upon to act as a mentor to lower level Technicians 
  •  Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
  •  Performs other duties as assigned
  • A qualified candidate must have the following skills or abilities:
  • At least 3 years of field or shop service tech troubleshooting and repair skills of Electrical Power and Generator experience required.
  • At least 3 years of field or shop service tech troubleshooting and repair skills of Natural Gas and Diesel Engine experience required.
  • At least 3 years of field or shop service tech troubleshooting and repair skills of ATS (Automatic Transfer Switches) and GENERATORS experience required.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Excellent customer service skills. Must be able to effectively communicate, both written and verbal, with customers and employees in a professional manner.
  • Must have own tools.
  • Must have a safe driving history.
  • Ability to be productive by working efficiently and effectively with a high energy level.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Must be able to work Monday-Friday from 7 AM - 4 PM.
  • Must be on-call two weeks out of the month.

Requirements
Education and Experience:
·         More than two years of heavy equipment experience required; three or more years preferred 
·         High school diploma or equivalent preferred 
·         MSHA certification preferred 
·         Air conditioning certification preferred 
·         Crane/Rigger certifications preferred 
Supervisory Responsibilities:
·         None
Travel: 
·         Travel required with a possibility of an overnight stay
Additional Requirements:
·         Valid Driver’s license required 
·         Ability to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and must have an acceptable driving record
·         Must own required tools to perform repairs
Physical Requirements:
·         Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue 
·         Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 80 lb 
·         Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina 
·         Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment 
·         Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment 
·         Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work 
Work Environment:
·         Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment 
·         Regularly works outdoors around moving mechanical parts and noise level may be loud at times
·         May be exposed to weather extremes when working outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold, and humidity 
·         Exposure to small quantities of chemicals, dust, steam, high-pressure water, and high speed rotating equipment 
·         Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places
