Summer Hire duration: May 26th, 2026 - August 24th, 2026
PURPOSE STATEMENT:
The Summer Hire position is an exciting opportunity for individuals to gain practical experience in a dynamic work environment. The role is designed for individuals looking to work during the summer months and assist with various tasks, projects, and daily operations across different departments. This position provides valuable insight into Hawaii Gas' company and culture and offers hands-on experience that can help build skills for future career opportunities.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in general office or department operations, providing support to team members with daily tasks.
  • Participate in projects, assisting with research, data entry, or report preparation.
  • Help with organizing and managing files, documents, and records.
  • Assist with scanning physical documents and uploading digital files to SharePoint.
  • Provide customer service, answering phone calls, emails, or helping with in-person inquiries.
  • Work alongside team members to complete departmental-related tasks.
  • Perform basic administrative duties, such as filing, scheduling, and preparing reports.
  • Help with inventory management, restocking supplies, or organizing the workspace.

OTHER FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Complies with all safety rules and cooperates in the fullest in the promotion of safety and safe work habits, to include the reporting of any unsafe conditions or acts. Maintains all EH&S training on a current basis.
  • Complies with all applicable corporate and Hawaii Gas policies and procedures.
  • Maintains assigned work area and equipment in a clean, orderly and safe manner; performs housekeeping duties as required and/or instructed. Works in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Performs all other related duties as instructed by supervisor/manager.

Qualifications
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
  • 18 years of age
  • Legal authorization to work in the US
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Currently pursuing a degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Familiarity with scanning, organizing, and uploading files to SharePoint or similar document management systems.
