Public Affairs & Access (PAA) is a multi-disciplinary organization that includes Corporate Communications; Policy, Evidence & Access Strategy; Channel & Contract Management; External Affairs; Patient Experience; and Strategy and Business Operations. The CMG Patient Strategy aims to create a holistic, cross-functional approach to deliver a best-in-class patient experience that aligns with the portfolio, technology tools, and consumer-driven patient expectations in a rapidly evolving business landscape.
The Opportunity
As the Patient Experience (PX) Solution Lead, you will lead the end-to-end design, development, and launch of innovative patient-facing experiences, programs, products, and services across Genentech. What you can expect in this role at Genentech:
  • Own the design and launch of human-centric patient experiences from concept through pilot and full-scale release across digital and service touchpoints.
  • Define and author experience charters, experience blueprints, product requirements, and success metrics that articulate user needs and strategic value.
  • Coordinate with Experience Design, Strategy & Governance, and Business Designers to evaluate investment trade-offs, financial viability, and experience scalability.
  • Partner cross-functionally with DDA, RDT, PAA Activation & Capabilities Enablement, Legal, HCO, US Medical, CPO, CE and external vendor partners to ensure technical feasibility, regulatory alignment, and seamless execution.
  • Direct UX resources from low-fidelity conceptual visualizations to high-fidelity prototypes, incorporating structured feedback loops during pilot phases.
  • Embed an enterprise mindset across the design process to ensure orchestration between digital tools and human touchpoints while avoiding organizational silos.
  • Lead and coach cross-functional design project teams, maintaining psychological safety, clear direction, and resilience through uncertainty and change.
Who you are
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Bring 10-12 years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or a related industry.
  • Demonstrate strong experience with stakeholder management in matrixed organizations, with a proven ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Possess deep understanding of and comfort with technology, with a demonstrated ability to integrate technology and digitally enabled tools into service touchpoints.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of access, reimbursement, and the healthcare ecosystem, with experience designing patient-facing experiences strongly preferred.
Preferred
  • Advanced degree (Master's or MBA) in design, business, health tech, or a related discipline.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled healthcare solutions, modern health tech trends, and human-centered design frameworks.
  • Proven track record leading cross-functional teams and external agency/vendor partners in product launch or pilot testing phases.
Location
  • This role is based in South San Francisco and offers a hybrid schedule working 3 days per week on campus
  • No relocation benefits are available for this posting

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of CA is $161,100 - 299,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below. Benefits
