Position Summary
Tellers work in a face-to-face environment to receive payments from customers for bills rendered, cash checks within assigned limits, and accurately post customer transactions. Balances teller funds against daily transactions and prepares deposits. Handles routine customer inquiries and directs customers to the appropriate department or CPS Energy website.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Accurately collects, processes, and safeguards all customer payments (cash and checks) from external and internal customers through the Window Payment System in a timely fashion.
  • Ensures the accurate application of customer payments using an automated window payment system.
  • Accurately processes all employee and company checks.
  • Accurately processes cashier reimbursements.
  • Accurately processes customer gift certificates.
  • Accurately processes customer payments through the Angel Gift Program.
  • Accurately collects and processes storeroom, garage/parking, and agency recovery payments.
  • Maintains, secures, organizes, and straps currency throughout the day.
  • Maintains, secures, and balances all checks accepted throughout the day.
  • Balances and prepares daily Teller deposits by following all balancing procedures.
  • Answers routine customer inquiries.
  • Directs customers to appropriate departments for specialized services or CPS Energy website.
  • Open and closes the Teller Area according to the Start and End of Day procedures.
  • Open and close the Live Chat virtual stations according to the Start and End of Day procedures.
  • Maintains and Reports all Facility and Security concerns.
  • Maintains all Safety Protocols and Procedures.
  • Scan and email customers' documents.
  • Provides customers agency assistance information and CPS Energy special program applications.
  • Compiles and verifies all individual Teller deposits to send to our depository bank daily.
  • Provides support to other Customer Service Centers as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Skills
Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Experience in cash handling activities.
Candidates must be fluent in reading/writing in both Spanish and English.
Possess a valid driver's license with a history of a safe driving record per CPS Energy policies, procedures, safety standards, and applicable laws and regulations.
Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) at all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task various critical work assignments proactively and independently in a fast-paced environment and in a professional manner.
Ability to possess and maintain a high degree of accuracy.
Consistently maintains a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism and communicates the importance of both to others.
Ability to effectively use a calculator/10-key.
Ability to work at all customer service centers as needed.
Flexibility to work different works schedules and extended hours (overtime will be required).
Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling
Must have a valid class C Texas Driver's license with a favorable driving record.

Physical Demands
