    Job description

    The Interconnections Associate Planning Engineer will assist with interconnection studies for offshore wind, energy storage, public policy transmission and other new clean energy technology projects. They will conduct substation power-flow and short circuit analyses, support identification of local and system upgrades to maintain reliable electric system operations. Additionally, they will support internal engineering activities, interface with NYISO and merchant developers, assess the impacts of new generation/transmission projects on the bulk electric system, assisting with development of recommended modifications for NYISO.

    This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.

    Required Education/Experience
    • Bachelor's Degree Engineering and Two years of fulltime work experience, including at least one year of engineering work involving the planning, design, or operation of the bulk electric transmission system.
    Preferred Education/Experience
    • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Engineering and Two years of fulltime work experience, including at least one year of engineering work involving the planning, design, or operation of the bulk electric transmission system.
    Relevant Work Experience
    • Exposed to the design and /or operation of the electric power system, required.
    • Capable of using PSS/E, TARA, Aspen or equivalent power system simulation programs, required.
    Licenses and Certifications
    • Driver's License Required
    Additional Physical Demands
    • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
