Job description

Overview
Community Transit is seeking a skilled and collaborative Digitial Analytics Engineer to design and manage the digital analytics infrastructure that supports Community Transit's websites, mobile applications, social media, marketing campaigns, and other digital services. In this role, you will configure and maintain tools such as Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager, develop structured tagging strategies, and ensure digital data is accurate, consistent, and ready for analysis.
You will work closely with website developers, marketers, product teams and agency leaders to define business and tracking requirements. You will also analyze complex data, develop interactive reports, and transform findings into compelling narratives and recommendations that influence business strategy and improve the customer experience.
This position is well suited for someone who enjoys combining technical analytics work, business partnership, data storytelling, and strategic problem-solving.

Essential Duties
Data Engineering
  • Design, implement, and maintain data processing workflows within the data warehouse.
  • Develop and optimize data models that support reporting and business requirements.
  • Develop and maintain data collection, integration, or ingestion process for agency and digital data sources as assigned.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of data tracking, tagging, or event collection frameworks for approved digital platforms when applicable.
  • Establish monitoring, testing, and validation practices, including automated quality checks and controls.
  • Optimize data processing, storage, and reporting performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues affecting assigned data products and solutions.

Enterprise Reporting & Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Partner with business stakeholders to design and deliver reports, dashboards, and analytical solutions.
  • Develop and publish data visualization and reporting products tailored to stakeholder needs, including operational, customer, and digital performance reporting where assigned.
  • Analyze data and communicate findings, trends, and recommendations.
  • Explore complex datasets to identify patterns and actionable business insights.
  • Apply analytical, statistical, and programming techniques to support decision-making.

Data Governance
  • Follow established governance standards and data stewardship practices.
  • Implement data quality controls and validation procedures.
  • Support the integrity, consistency, and documentation of agency and digital data assets, including business definitions, metadata, and data lineage where applicable.
  • Ensure solution is aligned with organizational architecture, security, and compliance standards.
  • Monitor and maintain reporting and analytical products to ensure continued business value.
  • Document code, processes, data lineage, business rules, and reporting logic.
  • Support data access management in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Influence
  • Enable, support, and encourage the use of data in decision-making.
  • Integrate with teams across the enterprise to understand subject matter and improve data maturity and culture change.
  • Provide technical guidance on assigned analytical solutions and promote consistent data practices across operational and digital business domains
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • Demonstrated proficiency in implementing, configuring, and administering Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Google Tag Manager (GTM), including digital tagging, event tracking, and data validation.
  • Three years of experience managing and querying data in a relational database environment (Snowflake, SQL Server, Oracle etc.).
  • Three years of experience in data analysis using advanced tools (R, Python etc.).
  • Two years of experience in developing business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, or comparable reporting and analytics platforms.
  • Two years of experience modeling data in Star Schema.
  • Experience working with structured, semi-structured or digital data sources.
  • Bachelor's degree in statistics, computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a similar field.

An equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the job duties is also accepted.
Knowledge Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of assigned department's work program and data sources.
  • Sufficient knowledge of two other department's work programs and data sources to provide review and backup assistance as needed.
  • Basic understanding of DevOps processes.
  • Working knowledge of organization data collection methods and, where applicable, digital analytics concepts such as event-based measurement, tagging, and customer interaction data.

  • Ability to support implementation, validation, and maintenance of data collection and measurement solutions for enterprise applications and digital platforms, as assigned.
  • Data cleaning, validation, and review techniques.
  • Intermediate statistical skills for more complex data analysis (regression, clustering, hypothesis testing).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to write technical documentation for standard processes.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to various audiences through reports and presentations.
  • Willingness to stay updated with the latest developments in the field of data analysis and engineering, and to continue learning and improving skills.
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills for handling multiple tasks and projects.
  • Team player: encouraging, communicative, supporting, contributing, and enthusiastic.

Working Conditions
Hybrid telework may be available. Availability is at management discretion and may not be available for this position based on the nature of the work. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the use of office equipment and technology. You will be required to move throughout and between different office buildings and may need to complete tasks in noisy environments. You may also be required to lift and carry materials up to 10 pounds occasionally. Some travel required less than 10% of the time.
