Job description

Pay Range: $20.00 - $20.50 per hour (Depending on years of experience)
Catholic Charities of Baltimore is currently seeking a Direct Support Professional who will provides quality living support (physical, social, behavioral, career, and personal) to persons with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD) living and working in the community.
The work schedule is: Saturday and Sunday 11 AM - 7 PM
Gallagher Services supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in living the life of their choice. Adults are supported in living, working and being involved in the community as independently as possible. The Cornerstones of the program are Person-Centered Planning and the mission and values of Catholic Charities.
A Day in the Life:
You'll spend your days supporting a group of fun, vibrant individuals who enjoy:
  • Playing bingo and sharing laughs
  • Watching favorite movies and discussing characters
  • Singing along to music or relaxing with a favorite playlist
  • Coloring, crafting, and creating art
  • Reading books aloud or flipping through pages together

This group is looking for someone who is kind, dependable, a good communicator, and most of all-someone who enjoys spending time with them. If you're someone who takes joy in building real connections and being present in the moment, you'll thrive here.
How You'll Support:
  • Support community engagement, whether that's a walk in the park, or attending local events.
  • Be a steady presence in important moments-family visits, milestones, or just a shared cup of coffee
  • Advocate for each person's rights and help build their confidence and sense of self
  • Keep clear, respectful records to ensure continuity of care and support

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Valid driver's license with at least 2 years of driving experience and no more than 3 points
  • Comfortable driving agency vehicles and assisting people who use wheelchairs
  • Able to lift up to 75 pounds, stand for long periods, and provide physical assistance when needed
  • Completion of Medication Technician Training Program (or willingness to complete)
