The Core Engine Software Developer is responsible for the design, development, validation, and release of embedded control software that operates Caterpillar engine systems. This role supports delivery across multiple engine platforms and subsystems, ensuring software meets performance, emissions, and quality objectives.
What You Will Do:
  • Develop and implement embedded control software for engine subsystems including Fuel Systems, Air Systems, Aftertreatment Systems, Thermal Management, and Governor, Power, Emissions, and Combustion Controls
  • Develop software using model-based design (MATLAB/Simulink) and/or embedded C
  • Execute software verification and validation activities, including Software-in-the-loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL)
  • Debug and resolve software defects, performing root cause analysis to improve software quality and robustness
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including systems, calibration, validation, and integration to deliver complete engine solutions

Degree Requirement
Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field

  • Experience with: SIL / HIL validation environments, Software integration and release processes

Summary Pay Range:
$97,530.00 - $146,290.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
