Job description

Brief Description of Job Duties:
Maintain in-depth knowledge of agency's strategic IT and business plans. Provide architectural consulting expertise,
direction and assistance to Project Managers, Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, Developers, System Admins, Server
Admins, Data Base Administrators and other Systems Architects. Document, develop and maintain in-depth knowledge
of agency's existing IT architecture/infrastructure and technology portfolio. Develop, document, communicate and
enforce a technology standards policy.

General Duties:
 Actively engage with end users, clients or leadership to define business requirements for complex systems and
infrastructure development.
 Model business and systems processes based on findings through use case scenarios, work flow diagrams and data
models.
 Develop and execute test plans to check infrastructure and systems technical performance to complement QA.
Report on findings and make recommendations for improvement.
 Attend departmental, team and project meetings.
 Review new and existing IT projects, system designs and procurement/outsourcing plans for compliance with IT
standards and architectural plans.
 Review change management requests from projects/work efforts and provide best practice solutions.
 Keeping up on all required training for the position. Furthering education to keep up on industry and security
standards.

Skills required:
• Proven experience in systems design and development.
 Strong knowledge of hardware and software evaluation principles and practice.
 Exceptional analytical, conceptual and problem-solving abilities.
 Effective written and oral communications in order to establish and maintain good rapport with business and
agency staff for effective and timely problem identification and resolution of problems.

Knowledge and ability to utilize the current version of the following products:
 Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
 .Net (Visual Basic, C#), Java or other modern development languages
 SQL Database
 Windows Server OS, functions/commands
 SQL Management Studio
 SQL (language)
 Visual Studio

Experience required:
Fourteen (14) years’ direct experience relative to the field of work, with at least ten (10) years of direct
experience in IT solution architecture, software development, system integration or similar role.

Education required:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, a related engineering field, or equivalent work
experience.

Physical requirements (lifting, repetitive motion, etc):
Normal office environment.
