World Vision is hiring a Global Finance Director for a multi-million-dollar, multi-country, 5-year United States Government (USG) grant funded project called Faith and Community Initiative (FCI) .

Location: Washington, DC based, hybrid; remote


Duration: 12 months contract (Limited Term)


Minimum Requirements: Advanced degree in related field required. Professional designation as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred. 5-8 years of progressive and leadership work experience in budgeting and finance with demonstrated understanding of complex organizational budgeting, including financial management of large-scale and multi-country programs. Previous work experience with an international relief/development organization is desirable. Professional fluency in English is required .


Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S.A for any employer


Travel: Significant international travel in year 1 of project >50%; travel requirement in subsequent years >25%.


The Job


World Vision is seeking a Finance Director for a multi-million-dollar, multi-country, 5-year United States Government (USG) grant funded project called Faith and Community Initiative focused on leveraging the efficiencies of existing faith networks and faith-based or community health providers to bring integrated HIV TB, Malaria, MNCH and nutrition services through a hub-and-spoke model across 16 priority countries. To deepen efficiency and align with national strategies, the project will work collaboratively with governments, faith networks, and national Christian Health Associations (CHAs) to deliver integrated services at community levels. The project will gradually transition the implementation of activities to national Christian Health Associations, Ministries of Health, and other local stakeholders within three years and finally by the end of the project.


Responsibilities will include



  • Keep Christ central in individual and corporate life. Activelyparticipatein and contribute to the spiritual disciplines of the organization (Christian conduct, chapel, prayer, worship, devotions, and leadership of devotions); incorporate WV Core Values into decisions within scope of role.

  • Provide management oversight of grant financial planning and budgeting, accounting, audit, and other technical financial services.

  • Work very closely with the Global Project Management Team, consortium partners, and World Visionโ€™s finance and Contracts department to ensure that the implementation, reporting, and other finance-related tasks and deliverables are carried out effectively.

  • Ensure that financial decisions, policies and procedures meet corporate and project objectives and comply with regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure that consortium partners are aligned in terms of their budgets, spending, cost-sharing, and leveraging and maintaining their program activity to administration ratio.

  • Provide education, training, and client service to the Global Project Management and support team and consortium partners in effective use and application of financial systems and principles.

  • Monitor progress to ensure performance is on target.

  • Reference and follow organizational policies and procedures, seeking clarity as needed.

  • Budgeting: Understands fundamentals of complex organizational budgeting. Uses appropriate tools and management techniques to establish, manage, forecast, and measure budgetary performance.

  • Financial Process Controls: Effectively identify safeguards to avoid fraud and protect World Vision assets

  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Knowledge: Knows and applies GAAP and generally accepted auditing practices.

  • Government Grant Accounting and Reporting Knowledge: Demonstrates knowledge of federal, state and local government accounting, reporting and auditing requirements and applies these regulations to grants awarded to WVUS.
