Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a Principal Consultant to join our Decarbonization team, which sits within the Climate & Nature global business line. In this role, you will be responsible for leading client engagements to advise and implement innovative solutions supporting clients to plan and act on decarbonization. You will join a dedicated team that serves clients across our focus sectors of technology, food & agriculture, financial services, healthcare, and retail & apparel. You will provide technical expertise, including modelling science-based targets and developing decarbonization strategies for our clients, and support future business growth through proposal development and leading competitive bidding.



  • Manage and deliver target-setting and decarbonization projects, including technical analyses, client reports, and presentations that support strategic decision-making and deliver impactful outcomes.

  • Build and grow client relationships by proactively identifying opportunities to expand existing engagements.

  • Lead and support the development of proposals and competitive bids.

  • Demonstrate technical expertise, preferably including technology sector topics such as cloud computing, data centers, and AI-related impacts.

  • Contribute to the development of service offerings to address evolving market needs while sharing best practices across the team.

  • Foster an inclusive and collaborative team culture.

  • Collaborate effectively across geographic and cultural boundaries.

  • Contribute to Anthesis' innovation and thought leadership in corporate climate action.

  • Provide technical expertise in science-based target modelling and the requirements of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and other relevant frameworks

  • Lead complex target-setting and decarbonization planning projects, including Scope 3.

  • Develop value-creating decarbonization plans aligned with clients' strategic objectives.

  • Advise clients on translating decarbonization initiatives into long-term business value.

  • Apply sector expertise across one or more of the following industries: Technology, Food & Agriculture, Financial Services, Healthcare, or Retail & Apparel.


Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • 5+ years of professional experience in decarbonization, climate strategy, sustainability consulting, or related fields.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics).

  • Direct experience developing and modeling Science-Based Targets (SBTi).

  • Deep understanding of Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) guidance and requirements.

  • Demonstrated expertise in Scope 3 emissions assessment, modeling, and reduction strategies.

  • Experience designing and implementing corporate decarbonization strategies and roadmaps.

  • Strong knowledge of GHG Accounting principles and GHG Protocol requirements.

  • Ability to translate decarbonization initiatives into commercially viable and value-creating business models.

  • Experience supporting senior leadership teams with climate and sustainability decision-making.

  • Sector experience in one or more of the following industries: Technology, Food & Agriculture, Retail, and Apparel.

  • Strong client management and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Proven project management capabilities, ensuring high-quality delivery and client satisfaction.

  • Ability to challenge clients constructively while delivering meaningful sustainability outcomes.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and consulting skills.

  • Strong understanding of corporate sustainability challenges, climate risks, and transition opportunities.

  • Active and collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Experience using digital tools and analytical platforms related to decarbonization and emissions management.

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking capabilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced consulting environment.
