Decarbonization EngineerOverview

A missiondriven organization focused on helping educational and community institutions achieve climate neutrality is seeking a Decarbonization Engineer to support the planning, engineering, and implementation of deep carbonreduction initiatives. This individual will play a central role in developing energyefficiency and decarbonization projects that transform existing facilities into higherperforming, loweremission buildings.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical acumen, the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments, and a passion for advancing climateimpact work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct field assessments of existing building systems
  • Perform ASHRAE Level I, II, and III energy audits
  • Complete energy and greenhousegas baseline and benchmarking analyses
  • Build and calibrate energy models to support measure development
  • Develop functional test procedures for HVAC systems
  • Prepare scopes of work and cost estimates for energyefficiency and decarbonization projects
  • Support financial modeling and project feasibility assessments
  • Analyze client opportunities and contribute to proposal development
  • Lead or support measurement and verification activities as needed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum of six years of relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of HVAC controls and building automation systems
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Certified Energy Manager (CEM) credential preferred
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively within a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
  • Experience with energymodeling tools such as OpenStudio, EnergyPlus, or similar; AutoCAD familiarity is a plus
